Thanked: 1He's adorable. What's his name? He's a real cutie. How old is he? Looks to be about 8-10 weeks? Yeah Doc is right, Aucado.us is a great site for Australian Cattle Dog owners. They have lots of people on there from breeders to rescuers to trainers. If you have any questions at all about your guy feel free to ask them.
Doc & I are both on there. We have rescued many, many dogs over the past 2 years and work very hard at placing them in proper homes. Thank you for picking a rescue. I'm sure he'll have a wonderful life with you and give you tons of love in return.
Hopefully this picture worked. This is Mookie. Yeah it worked. He's a little ACD that was rescued here in NC. We helped find him a home earlier this Spring. He's deaf so needed a special home, one who had experience dealing with deaf dogs. If there's anything at all we can help you with please let us know. :-D

I wouldn't doubt he's a mix, from what I read his coloration just doesn't seem right. Honestly, I'd be thrilled if he was a border collie mix...both are brilliant animals.
Sydney or Aussie or Crikey (still haven't decided on a name)was abandoned with his sister at the shelter. It just breaks my heart that people dump these beautiful animals like refuse. I will however give credit to the previous owners that they didn't just dump them off in the Everglades like many people do.
Doc and Bandit, I find it truly inspiring that you folks care enough to dedicate much of your time and resources to caring for our fuzzy friends. Bless you both and your amazing project.Last edited by AMDG; 08-10-2009 at 12:03 AM.

Thanked: 1Even if he is a mix he'll be gorgeous and wicked smart. If he's an ACD/BC mix he'll be a great companion. You'll have your hands full for sure but you'll also have a great time learning with him. Congrats again on your new bundle of joy.

As for training, I'd recommend doing it yourself. Consistency is key. For example, if you don't want him on the couch you have to stick with it. I've never heard any success stories from PetSmart, but I do know a few people who took their dogs there. So... they're batting zero as far as I'm concerned.
