Took a quick trip to the range today. Shot 50 rounds 230gr. cast .45 ACP - they did great. Had 10 loads for the Enfield and 10 loads for the 8MM Mauser. The Enfield was separating case heads due to the springy bolt. The Mauser did real good. I plan to kill something with it this fall. 150gr. jacketed bullet over some IMR 3031 and they held right at 1 inch at 50 yards off bench. I believe I can get them tighter than that. WW2 rifle with issue sights, 42 year old eyes......
I also shot the Mauser FR8 with some 150gr. RNFP cast bullets over IMR 3031. They did well as well, but shot high.
Well that was fun... I unscrewed that top turret, and under that there was an moa coin slot click turret. I reckon I can work with this now lol.

Rescoped these little beauties today. Hopefully get to the range and zero them in tonight. Next step is a couple of bipods.

This one surprised me when I first came across this video, I shoot with a .22 Browning carbine using a Wildcat suppressor and subsonic hollow points CCI 40gr ammo, the biggest things I shoot are Rabbits and Pigeons, then I see this video where a 400lb Hog is easily taken out totally blows my mind, in the UK they will not even consider shooting something that big with anything less than a 223 or 224, it's made me think differently about .22 rifles for sure.

Yea, it is all in where you place your shot taking into consideration the limiting factor of your ammunition. There was a noted commercial ivory hunter who killed many an elephant using a 257 Rigby with a head shot into a specific area from a certain angle. WDM (Karamojo) Bell was his name.
