    Default Pomade

Ok I am looking for a new pomade. I am currently using Murry's and some cheap axe stuff I bought. I was looking for a new brand and came across Layrite. The layrite says it holds good and washes out. I was just wondering if anyone has experience with it, or can suggest another brand to try?

I like American Crew. Holds pretty well and washes out nicely.

I like Every Man Jack. They have a pomade and cream that work great. The cream is a bit oily for my hair type so you will have to see what works best for you but for $7 or so, these things do last quite a while and they are pretty good in quality.

You can order some from every man jack's website or maybe pick some up at Target. (Target is the only retail chain to carry them.)

I use the America Crew product called Fiber. Its not re-combable at all. I just checked out the American Crew website and it seems that my understanding of what pomade was is incorrect. They do have a specific pomade product, which I have no experience with.

Ya true pomade will not wash out and is very thick. I comb my hair in a pompadour and I like something I can recomb, which the murry's is good for but that stuff is hell to get out of your hair. You have to use olive oil to break it down and then shampoo the **** out of it. It does hold great though.

Does any one know if you can recomb the American crew?

Yep, their pomade is water soluble, so just wet your hair a bit and comb away. it is also a somewhat flexible hold so you can comb without the water as well.

Most of the so-called pomades I've used are also water soluble and can be re-combed and they re-stiffen but are usually more "crunchy". The only thing I've found that comes reasonably close to Murry's is got2b "defiant" pomade. Similar, vaseline-like texture and smell and goes on shiny. Not as tacky as Murry's (and what is?) but depending on how much you want to plaster down you hair, not bad.

I used Bumble and Bumble for a while when I had pretty short hair, it provides a next texture effect but without super 'hold'. Not cheap tho! Now I'm looking for something a bit stronger since I want to grow it out more.
