    Cool Optimo hand-crafted, custom hats...

As seen worn by Johnny Depp and Christian Bale in Public Enemies, Optimo makes the finest fedoras and "old school" style hats around. They are located in Chicago and I am ordering my first custom fedora from them--they are certainly not cheap, but truly gorgeous and custom built to last and be worn/loved for a lifetime. I will be ordering the beaver felt satin finish fedora.

Does anybody on here own an Optimo?

Also, I am still trying to decide which color I want to order, so please feel free to let me know what colors you guys like! I will include a link...

    Default Optimo Hats

I have not been able to afford an Optimo, but did purchase a Stetson Fedora. It is a very nice hat, for about 1/3 the price. Perhaps in my next life I will be able to afford an Optimo.

I know, they are pricey! However, they are stunning in every way. They start at about $600, but I feel that I will appreciate and wear this hat always.

I ended up going with the Oxblood colored fedora with wide bow...now I have the painstaking waiting period to look forward to, but I am glad that I got it ordered--last one available for another 15 years or so in that color! They do a wonderful job of taking everything about you into consideration when fitting and building these hats for you. I will include a decent picture that I found of J.D. wearing his personal Oxblood fedora...only six hats made in the satin finish in the world like this, so I am pleased to get one made from the last of the materials they have available.

I hope everybody had a great New Year's and has an even better 2010!

Definitely a beautiful hat. Will you be wearing it with modern style clothing?

Nice. I wish I had the money for that. a good place for fedoras is the fedora lounge forum. I have a few different fedoras, but nothing top of the line, usually in the $50-125 range.

Yes its a nice hat but overpriced. As I recall when I bought a Stetson Western Hat many years ago (about 20) I paid around $160 for it and the workmanship was primo. From what I learned about fur hats its all about the X factor. The more X's the heavier and better the hat. Most Western hats are 4X but they make customs up to 20X and those are very expensive like over a grand.
