If I had the money, all I'd drink would be Springbank. Its so unique, and so good. Alas, Macallan, I hardly knew ye....

i had meant to read everyone's comments before posting.. however.. i couldn't' wait..

if you've never had a proper bourbon and birch.. then you really have no idea.. as for a 21 year old glenfiddich.. i would recommend a nice tollhouse chocolate chip cookie as an accompaniment..

my personal favourite.. a double pour of knob creek with a splash of ameretto and a couple of marachino cherries.. that my man is better than the first time you've ever slept with a real woman.

as for scotch itself.. johnny walker green label is a personal favourite.

Glenfiddich is a good one, great choice..!

Glenmorangie do a few whiskies with different cask finishes on them as well, and are definately worth a look if you like cask finished whiskey.

If you want to have it the traditional Scottish way (as my Grandfather taught me..!), mix it half and half with water and dont have any ice in it. That way you get all the flavours of the whiskey. If you have it neat or with ice, the alcohol strength and coldness mask a lot of the subtle flavours in there.

    Enjoy!

    Enjoy!
I have the "Lasanta" and the "Quinta Ruban" on my bar now. Terrific stuff! And though I prefer it neat, adding water does release some flavors that you can't taste otherwise.

Even a couple of drops of (filtered) water will open up some
more flavours, without appreciably diluting the drink. The
non-chill filtered Scotches will even get a tad cloudy when
    you do this.

I'm partial to Highland Park 18 yr. old Single Malt, but recently got a bottle of Glen Moray 12 yr. old Single Malt. Its pretty good. In fact, I'm sipping some right now.

I'm not as partial to scotch as I once was before I discovered bourbon. However, I do still enjoy a nice 15 year old Dahlwhinnie - with 2 cubes of ice, if you please.

+1 to Lagavulin & laphroaig. If you are looking for flavor, and like "smoky", then the Islay Scotches are for you. I love the "Peat-Monsters"!

Laphroaig has discontinued their 15 year old and are replacing it with an 18, has anyone tried the 18 yet?
