Finished my new humidor
Tarrable thing when you run out of room in the humidor. You cannot just shove cigars into a box. My foot locker sized storage humi was packed and turning into a mess.
I had some 3/4 cherry laying around, cutoffs from boards used in other projects. So I decided to make a new humi out of them. the sides are set in 3/4 inch rabbits and the top and bottom are set flush in rabbits as well for a good strong box that seals up nice. I used 3/8 Spanish ceder for the liner. the lid recess is fitted super tight for a good seal. You can actually feel the air being sucked into the box as you open the lid. Since this is my working humi it gets opened a couple times a day so I needs a very tight seal to hold humidity.
I skipped doing a top tray. Instead I made some inverted T dividers. That way I can stack the sticks to the top of the lid. There are around 250 sticks in it now with room for around 100 more. Most of these have a year or so on them. A few, like the MX2's are 08 vintage. They aged very nicely. Now I have room for more sticks.Last edited by cannonfodder; 05-05-2010 at 08:13 PM.

Nice...Congratulations.

Thanked: 30Very nice job.I am a big fan of cigars myself with 3 humidors and over 600 cigars. Most people don't understand how important a good humidor with a airtight seal is. If a humidor doesn't have a good seal it will dry out and ruin your precious stoggies. When I am looking for a new humidor I check the seals with a dollar bill. If it has a good seal? I would not be able to pull the bill out while it is close.

Thanked: 195Wow! Great job. Nice collection of cigars also, although I didn't notice any Partagas Blacks in there, which is my personal favorite.
Have a great one,
Mark

While I'm anti smoking I'm more pro excellent craftsmanship. Nice work. Are you not worried about the cedar changing the flavour/odour of your cigars? Or is that a good thing?

WOW! Nice work.
That looks great! I just got a craving for Cuban cigars but I'll wait until the week-end.
