    Default Pipe Tobacco

I just wanted to know from more experienced pipe smokers out there what their favorite tobaccos are.

Right now I am very much enjoying the Burley flake from Solani. This still is very nice! I have a few McClellands tobaccos coming in the mail this week, I can't wait to try those.

I have been regularly smoking Gawith & Hoggarth Rum Flake for a decade. I used to also smoke the Dunhill 965 and Nightcap but they are no longer in production. Now I've replaced those with GL Pease Robusto, Blackpoint, Haddo's Delight and Key Largo. I've smoked a few of McClellend's blends and their VAs are very tasty.

I haven't picked my pipie up much lately, but I fell in loe with some loose tobacco sold at my local shop. Tell you the absolute truth, I don't know what it is. Smoked a fair amount of Dunhill before that.

Maybe I should go grab my pipe...I miss it a lot. Thanks for reminding me of a pleasure that I have been missing lately.

    First, spend some time here:
TobaccoReviews.com - The largest collection of pipe tobacco reviews on the internet

There is a lot of really good info there.

Next, do you like, Virginia-Periques, English Blends, Aromatics?

    I really like:

    Samual Gowith: Squadron Leader
Peterson's: Old Dublin, Sunset Breeze, Irish Flake, Sherlock Holmes
Cornell & Diehl - Autum Evening, Epiphany, Three Monks
GL Pease - Barbarry Coast, Westminster
    Rattray's: Hal-O-The-Wind, Marlin Flake
Solani - Gold Label Luxery English
    Reiner - Long Golden Flake
    MacBaren - Club Blend

    Happy smoking!
    David

I am always on tobaccoreviews.com and smokingpipes.com they're really nice websites. I also love Dubinthedam's videos on youtube, he has very good reviews on there. Samuel Gawith makes a very good virginia flake, I've enjoyed that one many times before.

Not entirely true. Something called Dunhill 965 is still produced and sold here in Denmark. How it corresponds to the original, I don't know, since I never tasted that.

I've went through more than a few pounds of Samuel Gawith Full VA Flake. They used to make one called Curly Cut that was outstanding and I also liked their #5 Special Flake. If you like fearsomely strong tobaccos the ropes and twists that S. Gawith and G & H make are knockouts in the true sense of the word. In general I think that the Lake District tobaccos are superior to our USA stuff. Surperior if you like strong slow burning tobaccos that is.

    I like Escudo a lot.
Squadron Leader is my favorite English blend. Too bad there seems to be no supply recently.

It was good when it was available here. For awhile we were getting the 965, Nightcap and Early Morning Pipe with the Dunhill brand and made in Denmark. Then the USA vendors said that only 965 was available and finally that too was discontinued by Dunhill. This according to McCranies, Cup 'O Joes and others that I used to source it from. I would love to see it made available here if it is still available in Denmark. I thought it was good stuff.

I have thinking about getting a tin of the Davidoff flake Medallions soon. They have a black Cavendish core and you can fold and stuff them into the bowel. Anyone tried these yet?
