Green Flash West Coast I.P.A.
Wow! I don't know how many here are into craft brews. I certainly am and I also do some homebrewing. Anyway, I love IPA's and the more hops the better. I had four West Coast IPA's from Green Flash Brewery this past weekend. This beer has quickly climbed to the top of my favorite brews list.
Powerful hop flavor and bitterness. I would not call this beer balanced, but that doesn't matter. It is all hops. Pine and Citrus and delicious!
If there are any hop heads here and you have not yet tried this brew, try to get your hands on one. You will not be sorry.

Enjoying a North Coast Brewing "Scrimshaw" right now. That is a Pilsner as it should be which is hops extreme. Enjoy.

I like the IPA's. We used to serve a few of them at one of the pubs I worked at when I was a student.
My favourite beer has got to be Hoegaarden though, thats just divine, and I really like Erdinger as well. Leffe Blonde is a great winter beer, but its just a little bit too heavy for summer. I'm a massive Belgian beer fan...!

Thanked: 1262I've been on a Belgian kick myself lately. This is one of my favorites. Delirium Nocturnum - Brouwerij Huyghe - BeerAdvocate

As far as wheat/wit beers go, Hoegaarden is the standard by which I judge all others. In fact, I never had a wheat/wit that I liked as much as a Hoegaarden so I do not even try anymore. I usually like higher gravity beers and have been drinking IPAs exclusively lately, but if you're looking to put back more than a few, you can't go wrong with a six pack of Hoegaardens.

Hard to say as I only had Bells Hopslam once and it was about six months ago. Also, I don't think I can make a fair comparison as the Hopslam was not "fresh." Sometimes I like IPA's fresher and not aged.
To me, the Hopslam was more balanced with malty sweetness to compensate for the bitterness. That is not necessarily a good thing as I love a bitter, hoppy flavor straight through to the end.
I remember really enjoying the Hopslam, but at 10% ABV, it is a one and done brew. The Greenflash is comparable in taste (piney, citrus), not as balanced (good thing in my opinion) and you can easily drink two or three of them.

I agree. The green flash west coast IPA is a huge hit. It's fairly reasonably priced for the caliber of beer it is as well. To those of you in the thread who are talking about belgian beer, I would definatelly recommend checking out some of green flash's belgian offerings such as the "le freak". Very tasty!

Thanked: 68Used to do some home brewing. Mainly a dark beer kind of guy, so stouts were among the most common. An different twist is to drop a black jellybean in to each bottle before capping - an interesting hit of aniseed.
If you're into something a little more adventurous, drop a jalapeno (or similar chilli pepper) into the bottle before capping. A very "warming" beer, great for winter. ] Scares the unsuspecting too. A real eye opener!Don't do anything you wouldn't want to explain to the paramedics!
