🎆 This has been a great day. A birthday present from a very dear friend arrived from New York city today.
A box of Diplomaticos 3's rolled in 2000 which I just put into a jar humi. I just finished one and remember why Diplomaticos have always been my favorite Habanos cigar regardless of the vitola.

    It's a great pastime.

I know for me, a large part of the pleasure comes from collecting and aging them before smoking.

    Enjoy.

Used to smoke cigars but only bought one at a time. With no humidor, how long does a cigar last before it changes for the worse?

Just leaving out in the room it will dry out in a couple of days. You don't have to spend lots on money on a Spanish cedar humidor. A well sealed Rubbermaid box will do. As long as the air and moisture are sealed you can have a week or two. If you get a small portable humidifier jar you are up to a month or more. Dry air and too hot/cold are the enemy of cigars. If you control temp and humidity correctly they can last 50++ years.

There are still legal Cuban cigars in the USA from before Castro. People just made sure to take care of them. I can only dream of winning the lottery so I can enjoy the odor of one being smoked.

If you live close to a good cigar store you have the best world. Someone else pays to keep the humidity and temperature right. You just walk in, but what you want and enjoy. None of the worry
Life's wisdoms: Cigars: Never trust air you can't see; sharp objects are never sharp enough; find what you love in life and give it everything you can!!

There are all kinds of ways to keep a stick or three without a humidor. You can use Tupperware or a ziplock bag.

I have kept cigars for a week or two in a ziplock with a moist bit of paper towel in it. Works pretty good really.
