Thanked: 1160The Mojito...Beverage extraordinaire
I just thought I might try this forum out for fun and praise my most favorite beverage in the alcoholic kingdom. Praise to the awesome Mojito. The wonderful concoction of Limes, sugar,Mint,Rum,Ice and clubsoda. Soooo refreshing. It makes me have daydreams of what Havana might have been like in it's glorydays.Or maybe it makes me wanna be an old rumrunner floating around on my ol 30' ft. wooden classic cabin cruiser.I can see my self wearin the ol dirtywhite captains hat shavin with the ol straight blade while listening to old jazz and a mojito on the shelf next to me........um okay....so I got a real vivid imagination...what can I say heh. I usually use a brown sugar syrup with steeped mint as my base and keylimes for my fruit and extra fresh mint to make it look purrty and all . I get an awesome result with this. I am also a fan of the lime Daqeuri. Hemingway(pappa) was a fan of both of these drinks and rightly so. I havent tried it yet,but I am going to experiment using spiced rum and see what happens there hmm. Have a great shave and Mojitos for all Y'all !!!

Mojitos are the #1 above 90 degree drink to have. We make ours with the cane sugar ( simple syrup ) and all the other goodness. We have turned on alot of folks to mojitos, just a refreshing drink for sure!!

Yep, mojitos are one of my favourites, along with margaritas and caipirinhas!

Love Mojitos's. Especially with dark rum! I grow my own mint and make the simple syrup with fresh mint leaves steeped in it.
That way I can either add bourbon and go with a mint julep or the mojito.

I encourage anyone who enjoys these drinks to grow your own mint. Growing mint is almost fool proof.
Myself, Moj. are too sweet for me.

Mojitos are awesome! I still have yet to find a Mojito out there that rivals my own though...
If you're making your own, obviously the freshest lime and mint are absolutely necessary. I also recommend making your own simple syrup earlier that day and chilling it. Using sugar in solid form will not taste nearly as good - it doesn't dissolve all the way, leaving a less-sweetened beverage and grains of sugar at the bottom.

Thanked: 1160Ahhhhh see....like Alembic I steep my leaves in a brown sugar simple syrup and keep it ready in the fridge. But of course I always add fresh mint leaves to the drink as well. Good job Alembic, and Mint Juleps are a very righteous beverage as well. But to Stubear ....what is Caipirahna ??? Did I even spell that right??? Hey Tuxedo 7 hows it goin. This has got to be a thread right up yer alley since ya are from Florida eh ?

Ahhhhh...the mojito. Best way to enjoy the summer - home made with a fine cigar. Thanks for reminding me, I'll have to brew up a batch this weekend!
