Was it black? That one stinks. I've had three of those. The first one lasted the longest through 2 wars! The second that came apart I thought was a fluke and then the third one was the last one that I'll buy. I'm not sure what this new one is but it's all glass and stainless steel.

I have one of these and love it. Highly recommended if you like french press style coffee.

Or one of these: Aerobie® AeroPress(TM) Coffee & Espresso Maker

I have one that travels most anywhere I'm going to be away from the industrial strength coffee machines I've accumulated, or likely to encounter people who drink coffee I can read a paper through...

If the idea of using a paper filter does not settle well, there is a hack. I had an old "gold" wire filter knocking about the bottom kitchen drawer that got trimmed to fit the aeropress. It works quite well, but I am tempted to investigate some finer mesh at some point in the future. A little sludge is tolerable.

    My two p anyway.

I had the ikea one about 12 bucks?, really cheap and it fell apart.

    I now have a bodum.

I also roast my own beans. I prefer the columbian price/quality wise.

+1000 I was definitely going to highly recommend the aeropress. In my quest for amazing coffee to make at home/work I bought into the hype around the aeropress. After spending $500+ on various coffee/espresso gadgets I am totally in love with the aeropress. Have one at work and home now.

I also have the aeropress. Been using it for about two - three years now and continue to love it. We find that it makes a really mellow brew, doesn't matter what beans you start with. Our bean of choice is the nabob expresso grind. Works for us....
