If it's the one I looked at... Looks like it could be a nice smoker...

Two other carvers you might look into are Omar King and Scotto... Both are on eBay and reasonably priced...

I have personally had Eric from Omar King do several commissions for me...
I like the Scotto , so many to choose from much like razors. Thanks for sending the link..
I will put a bid in on the one I found on eBay. Also some very reasonable priced pipes out of Poland on eBay. Still looking for baccy Mississippi River is not available here in the U.k so may try for frog morton frog on a log as a starter it seems mild and is on a lot of the you tube vids. I will keep you all posted with my progress. Thanks for all the help.
What are your opinions about Rustication, Sandblasting, or Carving etc. of a pipe? My opinion is that they are nice enough looking in their own way but I imagine what the grain may be behind it and wonder what are they trying to cover up? I have a Grabow pipe with a leaf carved on one side. The rest of the grain is pretty and I know they covered up a defect by doing that but it is similar to a signature to me. I think it is much more interesting than the DR Grabow stamped on the shank!!!
I like nature and nature isn't perfect. Imperfections add character.
I have no opinion on rustication, sandblasting or carving... I use to think that I only liked smooth pipes, but as you can see, my collection varies anymore...
I also am like you 32, I like the natural way nature has made sandpits and voids, as long as it doesn't hinder the performance of the smoke...
I have some work to do in the garage and I am going to take my imperfect Grabow and some Frog Morton's Cellar out with me.
My Grabow
A minor project but I had to cut a slot in to this box.
