So am I :D
Hopefully, I'll get some over the weekend as the artisan reckons, the hard part is over.

A freehand I bought at A. David in April, 1973. Holds a lot of tobacco.

Good looking pipe.
I tried looking up A. David and can find nothing. Where was that?
I picked up this Willard for 25 cents at a garage sale yesterday. They were a cheap mass priduced pipe 1963 to 1975 or so. It was in rough shape. I sat camping and took out my whittling jack and decided to try and refinish it. Nothing to loose.....

The rim looks in good shape. Some light sanding and polish should bring this one back to life.
I think I would spend as much time as needed to clean the shank and bit. Will probably take quite a few pipe cleaners!
Another pipe that I got from the lot Bob sold in the classifieds. A really neat nose burner with a horn stem. Stout, versatile, and a good smoker with a generous bowl for its small size.
Tobacco: home blend of red mature virginias and perique with just a touch of Latakia.
Happy Independence Day to my fellow Americans and I hope all the men who stop to look enjoy the pipe/tobacco and have a great day.

Got this one the early on when paypal started, before they were linked to ebay, about 2001. Guy in Italy wanted me to use it but I insisted on mailing a check. Can't be too careful.
Just received these Tobacco samples from a fellow South African wet shaver.

I am not expecting to have a pipe that is worth more than the 25 cents I paid for it when it is done....
To keep it in the spirit of this site I am playing with a Gold Dollar of pipes!
Much learning going on to me. How do you carve something that the grain turns so frequently?
I can see the imperfections but to me that adds character.
It is a natural piece of material so it is going to follow nature....
So far in my playing.

Beautiful grain in its own right. Has anyone else ever licked their pipe? :rofl2:
