I'm sure there's a forum for pipe smoking somewhere, not really sure I want to jump that deep into the rabbit hole. So I smoke cigar's and cigarettes, however been taking an interest in pipe smoking lately, any good recommendations for first pipe tobacco. I was thinking of Petersons Morning tin and then the night cap one also caught my eye. I'm a complete noob into this realm, don't even have a pipe yet, I was on a website the other day and I can get one cheap enough, but I just don't want to have a bad experience. I remember trying captain black years ago and I was most definitely not a fan. Well hoping one of you fine gentlemen would be able to steer me in the right direction. Thanks in advance.

Night cap is a good choice but we are all different!
I only smoke a pipe from time to time so I'm not an expert in pipe tobacco but I would recommend Petersons Connoisseurs Choice. Its an easy smoke that's smooth and aromatic. Great for a beginner.

40'f + outside and figured I should go sit on the front porch.
Thinking of you Dave.
I can't remenber where the square nail cam from for sure but it makes a good tamper.
Haven't smoked a pipe in 15 months
I do miss it
It has been a while for myself also but such a nice winter day and the sun shining on the porch....
Haven’t puffed on my Rad Davis Dublin...in a year..I bet.
Might have to do something about that..
Escudo has been my go to
Newest acquisition a Peterson b42 Heritage series Darwin pipe nice big and comfy like a reclining chair!
I quite smoking my pipes almost four years ago before having several surgeries in one year. A few months ago I reconnected with an old friend who had started shaving with straight razors and smoking pipes.
I sold him almost 100 tins of cellared tobaccos of which some are still available and some are sadly gone. Basically sold them to him for what I paid for them knowing that some could sell for well over 100 a tin. Felt better doing that and helping an old friend than trying to sell them to the highest bidder.
I have so far kept most of my Castello collection but did sell him a lot of pipes, too. Have plenty of my favorite tobacco still cellared and if my doctor ever tells my that I only have so long left, the pipe smoke will roll from my house.
I still miss my pipes and tobacco every day and still have many within reach of my recliner just in case I feel the urge to light up again.
Hope all my old friends here are still well and in good health.
I quit my pipes Christmas of 2021. Still have them and pounds of tobacco.
I am going to have to go out and have a bowl now.
I still have a bit of brown bogie Dave!
I can't remember offhand where this nail came from.......
Makes a good tamper!
I found this pipe at an Antique store back in June. The guy told me it was made in Japan in 1922. Maybe so, maybe not, but it sure does smoke really well. One of my favorites! The tobacco pouch I made from Deer hide.

I would very much like to go outside and enjoy a bowl of Captain Black. However, at the time of this writing it is 104 degrees outside. Just a tad bit too hot right now.
My house. If I want to smoke inside I do!
All though many times I go sit out back.
I have cut back on the pipe also. Been a couple years I bet. Had an occasional Cigar. But I was never an everyday pipe smoker..and nevah smoked cigarettes in my life. So..it’s all about being a good boy so we can live longer and be miserable...lol
Ef..it...iam going to buy a tin of escudo and enjoy myself...life is to short.
Hey you guys to those of you who had to quit because of health reasons, I get it. I got diagnosed with db2 about 4 or 5 years ago and I do realize that when I'm trying to heal from something like a cut or edema in the legs or something to that effect I have to quit and be good but other than that I'm smoking my pipe the fact that I can lay it down for a month and then come back that's what I like about pipe smoking and if I can't smoke the tobacco readily and I clamp on my pipe and can be just as happy this is why pipe smoking is such a great medium you can't really do that with a cigar cuz a cigar the next day half smoked is gnarly although I like a good cigar and as we all know as pipe smokers cigarettes are the devil's armpit. Pipe guy what you did was really awesome good on you that person will turn on to be probably a good well-rounded pipe smoker while his friends are all choking and hacking on gnarlboroughs!
But just like in the old days even if you had to lay down your pipe you're still our brother in Briar and blade.:chapeau
Here is THE MAN song.

You know Dave I really understand how you feel with my diabetes related complications I have admittedly had to back off drastically but I am hanging on to some pipes just to clamp on to.
I feel like those of us that are facing health issues when we come to this point we all have to handle it our own way I'm sure eventually I'll probably get rid of the rest of mine too one day maybe sooner than later I might at least keep one or two cuz one my brother gave to me and if not for anything else again if all I can do is clamp on then so be it stay well my brother.
I will start the process
Just a thought Dave but out of all your pipes if you have like maybe one total favorite you should keep it if that's possible just for clamping at least:angel:
I have three I will keep.
Two meets and one other
That's awesome to hear man it doesn't make you less in any way trust me,... briar on my brother:angel:
Got only 2 pipes
My Rad Davis bent Dublin hasn’t been fired up in 2 years
A Charatan flame grain ..is the other
The way I see it guys if you're not smoking because of your health that's completely understandable as long as you got a briar and you want to show it off I figure you're as welcome as any here so good on ya !:chapeau
Wondering if anyone knows of some sort of belt pouch for holding pipe and a wee bit of baccy?
