Late friday evening pipe. Scottish flakes from estate Barling zulu.
Two candles at the window: just a traditional manner for celebrating our independence day (96th today).

Each pipe is different. Some smoke great without a break in, and others require a little effort (but not much). I would simply have your friend take a look at it to see if he thinks it needs a break in or if it is ready to go. Take your time, be patient, and enjoy. Pipe smoking takes an honest effort to learn, but the payoff is priceless. Don't let the mistakes bother you. Everyone who has smoked a pipe has made mistakes. Simply relax, learn, and welcome to the pipe smoking fraternity.
Just finished a bowl of Peterson's 2013 Christmas blend in my Peterson system pipe. I believe I'm going to have a nice big bowl of Samuel Gawith's Full Virginia Flake or Frog Morton on the Bayou in my Peterson Rusticated Kinsale XL23 after dinner. We'll see which one jumps off the shelf at me.
Enjoying some 1776 "Bostonian" light English in my newest little basket briar pipe. I am inside cooking spaghetti with beef and deer meat. I have Bertolli olive oil and garlic sauce bubbling on the pot as well. The wife is at a women's meeting for church (hen party), so it is me and my 3 kids doing spaghetti and movie night tonight. Wife is away, hence smoking in the house:D
Mmmmm I want Bsgetti with deer meat n garlic !!!:)
That reminds me. I received some tragic news tonight......I was getting all jazzed up for my coming weekend.I was going to go down to the local German restaurant and chow down on Schnitzel and Beer and so on.........only to be informed they closed !!! Life is a cruel mistress.
Well for the time being, at least I still have the Christkindle Market.......looks like I'm going to start brushing up on German cooking. Time to pull out a thinking Pipe.
Well, let's change our passports!
