Very light and sweet but it tastes great and so far I've gotten the thumbs up from the only roommate that was home. Thank you so much Phil.

PS I love the wrapping paper envelope.

I really need to get onto some other tobbaco given some of the descriptions. I have yet one more question..... Is avoiding burning the rim of a pipe an aesthetic consideradtion or 8s it a smokeability consideration.

Apologies f9r turning this thread into a Q&A.

For me it is neither. You can clean the rim wiping it with saliva or olive oil. It is not about smokeability, imho.

    Thanks Sailor

I really need to proof read when on the phone. My cobb is a little bit charred at the top and so I was curious.

I think on a briar it's more of an aesthetic and a maintenance issue. I suppose it could be a smokeability issue if you are burning the rim to the point you are smoking briar along with your tobacco. Unless you like the flavor of burning briar...

OTOH, I've read that you should avoid burning the rim of a meerschaum bowl. I happen to like the looks of a "toasted" or charred rim meerschaum ala the meerschaum smoked by Lee Van Cleef in a "For A Few Dollars More." I had been lighting my meerschaum with a butane pipe lighter and the rim had darkened a bit, just at the very top, but not nearly to the degree, and down the sides, as the Van Cleef pipe. It occurred to me that lighting with a match might have a better effect and it certainly did. So while for some the aesthetics of a meerschaum might be somewhat "clean" and even coloring all around the bowl, I like a meerschaum that looks a little used and beaten like it's been smoked - by a bad ass.

It's from a custom pipe maker called "unique briar" on eBay. At first I was hesitant because there's really no reviews about his stuff on the other pipe forums , but I popped on a couple and they are very good smokers especially for the price. I too prefer stubby pokers as well
