Just had some Sterling 1776 "British Grenadier" in a little basket briar I got at my local shop. It is a medium English blend and it is good. I can see why some say that "Shortcut to Mushrooms" is a gateway English blend. The Grenadier definitely has similarities. My order from Sterling came in today and I am quite pleased. All in all I got a packet of 1776 "Musket Blend" (Light Aromatic), 1776 "British Grenadier" (Medium English), 1776 "Bostonian" (Light English), and got the bonus free small packet of "Bargain Pipe Tobacco" that smells like a light aromatic. The envelope these came in smelled amazing. The bowl of British Grenadier was nice. The new pipe I got has a small bowl so it was a shorter smoke than most, but good none the less. On the draw it was slightly sweet and a bit floral. On the exhale it was a bit nutty with wood/earthy tones to it. Exhaling through the snout was a bit tingly and not done too much. When I felt the bowl getting warm I also felt a bit of tingle on the tongue. Time to slow it down. It was nice though. No goop or gurgling, nor any damp in the bottom of the bowl when I was done smoking. I would recommend folks check out Sterling and Jack's blends, there are a good bit to choose from and quite a variety.....Evan

G&H Happy Brown Bogie (Sliced) in a 1950's Kaywoodie Super Grain. Fellas, I ain't no Nic Wimp but this stuff is a no **** vitamin N power bar. Definitely better for an evening smoke in a small bowl pipe. It makes me sweat and then about ten minutes later, I'm really relaxed. I'm considering a hybrid perhaps a 2:1 mix of PA or Granger to Happy Brown Bogie. I figure it will tone down the Happy Brown Bogie and give the PA or Granger a little more grunt.

I went for a walk around the block tonight and only made it part way. 22 mph winds but no waves on the lake just beautiful reflections of lights. I finished the bowl and went back home for another and a chair. I wish I could take pictures like some of you but will have to leave it to your imagination. [Probably better.] A line reflected from a street light and the outline and then shadow of a goose looking for open water. The first ice of the year and not covered by a layer of snow. In the distance 2 red lines of lights from the broadcast towers about 10 miles away by road. I bet the lake next to there is getting ready to walk on. I have an idea but am not sure why that one freezes sooner. I am near a wall about 10 feet tall next to the road around the lake. Should set my chair up over 6 feet away from the edge so the safety director won't write me up because I don't have safety equipment. :-] I see a sign next to the road that irritates me. Bicycles share the road. I want to add to the bottom, And The Responsibility! Three airplanes flying overhead at the same time. I wonder where they are going? I wish I had something like Flightradar.com when I was younger.

These where only some of my thoughts!

I am going to fill my bowl again. This time with Peterson Sweet Killarny. When I get back from my walk and if it isn't any better than the last time I am going to toss it in the trash.

Back from my walk and it was a short one. The wind had busted up most of the ice. I wish I would have stayed to watch it...

If anyone wants of Sweet Killarney PM me. I will send you my address and you can come over and dig it out of my trash can. Garbage pickup is early Friday morning.

Picked up some tins of Cornell & Diehl tobacco, smoked a bowl of the Black Frigate in a Pete St. Patty Billiard during my lunch break. This is a VERY good tobacco. It's heavy, bold, smooth, and I'm not sure what else, but good.

I had a few minutes to squeeze a quick smoke in at the barbershop today-- bullseye flake in a little MM cob.
