Thanked: 488Something else to consider is the Bulova Accutrons are becoming collector items and changing from the original band will reduce the value so if you change hang onto that original band:-)

Thanked: 488Accutron Astronaut
That long huh well you learn something new every day:-) I have an old 1969 Bulova Accutron Astronaut that I took the battery out of in 1971 so it has a lot of life left in it. It does have the tuning fork of course.
I've considered selling it but then again I've had it so long!!!

The original bracelet is better by far. The leather strap doesn't suit the watch case.

The problem with the accutron is in addition to parts becoming extinct, because of it's design there are really only 3 parts that go on them. Either the index wheel goes through wear or the tuning fork becomes permanently magnetized or the coils become corroded. The last two can happen just sitting in a drawer. Also the required battery is no longer available so you can't match the required voltage. If you have the original-the 214 series most run crummy on new batteries or not at all. The later ones the 218 series seem to run better but either way the accuracy is rarely to spec.

I fiddle with my Porsche all the time? And my dad fiddles with his Ferrari...
That said, I'm going to go against the majority. That wach looks made for a metal bracelet. I have a similar looking watch (though quartz, as my budget for automatics wasn't there at the time)
I do have a leather banded watch, my first automatic. To me this style is more attractive in the leather binding
I agree that leather is "dressier", but that is a pretty dressy watch to begin with, so I don't think it's too far held back by the metal band.
