Jokers. Another power trio, Japanese in this case. Time for me to shave off my gory Covid locks and start wearing a designer's wig.

Vera Lynn passed away today at the age of 103. She was very popular with the troops who she entertained in WW2.
Here's one of her most loved songs. Queen Elisabeth II used part of Lynn's lyrics in her message to her subjects to help them through this Corona virus situation----'We'll meet again'-------

Wow, that isolation version of "Black Water" is one of the most uplifting things I've heard in awhile. And I had never heard of Vera Lynn-she was a beautiful lady with a beautiful voice.
I saw the Doobie Brother's 'First' Farewell tour around '75-'76 at the old Spokane Colosseum which held 20K people and was sold out and when they did Black Water the singer was alone on a stool in darkness with a single spotlight on him. The song went along and when he got to the part of 'I want to hear some funky Dixie Land pretty momma come and take me by the hand, the entire audience was ready to start clapping their hands when-----------------------------the spotlight swung to a corner where a quartet started playing Dixie Land Jazz! It was Sooooooo Cooooolllll!!
A co-worker saw them the next night in a different event and they repeated the Dixieland Jazz thing.
Cool story, Roy-Do you or anyone else remember when the Doobie Brothers were on the 70's show "What's Happening," and did a live performance of "Cheat the Hangman" , and Jeff "Skunk"Baxter doing that incredible solo with smoke and fire/light effects to close the show? I loved that, but can't find it on YouTube.
Oh yea! I remember that show AND that episode! FooToob isn't the only source of videos------------

There are some songs that have a message to everyone.
My family and I were traveling to a Hockey Camp in Canada for our two children and were just shy of the border when this song came on. While I had heard it my wife hadn't and it brought her to near hysterical tears. Our daughter undid her seat belt to be able to lean forward to hold and console her.
I hope all can appreciate how the power of the words and video affected the man reviewing it.

I have been listening to "The King of Dieselbilly" album by Bill KIrchen. I have been on a Commander Cody, Junior Brown, Flying Burrito Brothers truck driving music twang binge.

Well we lost Charlie Daniels today.
I missed a chance to see him here in Walla Walla. The Marshal Tucker Band opened for him. Still kicking myself in the ass for missing that show. The event was held at our Fair Grounds and the following was playing as I drove by on my way home from work.
Here's a live version of his big hit:

Very sad news Roy.

There was a whole lot to Charlie Daniels. A great American. They don't make men like him any more.
May his memory live on forever.

My daughter was fortunate to get a VIP to see him in the historic Gruene Hall.
His habit of passing on his bow after every show was her good fortune.
She passed it to me with an autographed picture. I really treasure this!
Tom, that is just way too cool! :bow
A gentleman by the name of Jim McQuinn has been running (some say walked) his record/video/headshop called Hot Poop here in WW since the 70's. Jim and I are friends and years ago he was telling me that he was working for an underground newspaper and Charlie Daniels had a record out called Uneasy Rider and he was asked if he wanted to interview him.
Well Jim had only heard that one song and figured that Daniels was just into comedy so he passed on it. He said if he had only known------
Since I'm in my typical politically incorrect mood, here's a couple more of Charlie's tunes including Uneasy Rider--

Yeah, CDB was an American original, no doubt. Here's a slowed-down live version of my favorite song by him that shows off the virtuosity of his bandmates, and offers a tribute to Elvis, Janis and Ronnie:

My second wife's sister in law worked for the company that did MC Hammer's videos. She had pictures of him getting the makeup on, pics of him in the blue screen, her and him, all of the pics with his autograph etc.
MC was a hot item at that time and my oldest daughter was just a young pre-teen and when she found out she was SOOOOOO Envious!
It's a Tom kind of day here... Have a good one folks.
