Thank you Cudrunner (Roy). Yes my other half is MY rock...she IS very talented...as you know my nickname is "Wildkat", and as I told her when she first met me..."You can't tame a Wildkat", so talented as she is, she's not been able to tame me completely just yet...but she's working on it. As for Robin williams....what a shame that we as a society were not able to help him from his demons and preserve this genius of a man.
He passed at 91 in early July.
His music was great!
It's a bit strange that you posted this group that uses a reference to Johnny Cash as I just learned that his long time drummer W. S. Holland just passed away.
This isn't the best video of WS but it is with Carl Perkins son-- If anyone can find a better video please post it
Rest in Peace W. S. Holland you were part of something special. :bow

Sad News Guys. Eddie Van Halen passed away today at age 65 from cancer.
Here's a blast from the past--

Aloha!
Yes, heard that on WDCB Chicago Jazz (I stream it via the internet). Seems like only yesterday I was listening to "Jump". Might as well jump. The 80s were a glorious time. These days I'm a Jazz cat, but I grew up with Rock. Sad to see Rock Icons fading. Speaking of that, Ringo Starr and Paul McCartney are no spring chickens. I am bracing for the day when I hear sad news regarding these gents. Other than Jazz, my 2nd largest Vinyl album collection is The Beatles.
RIP Eddie.

I great song that connects with everything going on in the world today.
One of the greatest guitarists of all time.

I've been listening the Van Halen since 2pm. A very sad day in my life.
RIP Eddie!
Never a big Van Halen fan but you have to give credit where credit is due. He was a great guitarist who had a profound effect on modern music.
Don't know how many of you are into "rockin' " music...but Im listening to Kitty, Daisy & Lewis at the moment...I really like the retro sound they make...two sisters and a brother with Mum and Dad on rythm guitar and Bass, when they play gigs. Check them out;

Thanks for that. I enjoyed it. Now if it was do e in electric buzzing guitar I'd have liked it more. But it was still good
Funny, for months before Eddie passed, I've been back on a Van Halen vibe. Especially if I'm riding around on a sunny Saturday running errands in my wife's snazzy Rav4 with the high end JBL sound system, all the windows down and sun-roof open, I might be cranking something like this.

Hell, who am I kidding? I'm gonna go crank some VH now as I leave for work at 6 am too!
I got led zeppelin going this morning or I'd do the same Aaron.
Aloha!
This weekend is (or would have been) John Lennon's 80th birthday. Sirius XM "The Beatles Channel" is celebrating John's birthday with special shows all weekend.
Right now, it's Sir Paul McCartney being interviewed LIVE in the Sirius XM Studios by Alec Baldwin, whom I must say, is doing a GREAT job.
They are interlacing this live interview with mostly unheard recordings of John doing his songs in versions that have remained in the vault.
Excellent is not a strong enough word.
Happy birthday John. We have missed you.
A wonderful clip, Roy...and yes she is a good woman. I do have a back up trade...I'm working on becoming a professional chariot maintenance man!
As I said, check them out on U Tube...I think they do a live version with electric guitar.
I've been on another Pink Floyd bender lately...

I think that most will find this well worth the 11 minutes of time to watch.
I love how Tommy Emmanuel allows this young man to shine. That young man is 28 years old this month.

I've been in awe of Tommy Emmanuel's acoustic guitar wizardry for years, but damn, that kid can hold his own beside him. Love their cover of "Working Man's Blues," one of my favorite Merle Haggard tunes.
Discovered this terrific version of a classic.
Actually gave me goosebumps a lil.

It did the same for me the first few times. And still. Its a fine remake. Then follow it with "the Sickness" and you will wonder how the same guy can make both.
One he clearly didn’t write, har.
Great pipes though.
Yes. I ment sing both not make. But the boy can sing. And scream! Lol.
Here's another where he's not the song writer, but I for one really liked his interpretation. I think John is pleased---

The Big Lie by Dinesh D’Souza
From his brand new album. Trower still hasn't lost his chops at 75. Just goes to show that clean living really does pay off. Also still making brilliant collaborations.

WDCB Chicago and "DCB JAZZ" with Bruce Oscar. Via Internet Streaming, obviously. Daily Jazz show from 2 PM - 7 PM (CENTRAL TIME) weekdays.
In my opinion, the worlds best venquilitrist--Terry Fator

Jeff Dunham is good and actually at times much funnier but he's not in Fator's league.

How about a little piano playing at Jerry Lee Lewis's place and it's not Jerry playing

Since no one else seems to want to post any music how about a bit of Ginger Baker with a drum solo
