Default What was the best movie you have seen recently ?

So as some of you may know, I am a huge movie fanatic, in particular horror movies but enjoy all genres. So i was wondering what was the best movie you have seen in while or of all time it doesnt really matter. I pose this question after seeing Inception for about the 6th time. Now there are many classics and amazing movies but this has been the best movie in about 2 years for me (Lastly the Dark KnighT) Im a hugh Christopher Nolan fan, and he just seems to be getting better and better every year, and He really has his directing/writing down to a science. I dont think theres been a movie from him that I dint like. I also thought KickASS was a great movie and done very well, although i dont see Nick Cage winning any Oscars for it. ALso there are many more I thought were great films recently but would start with these 2.

SO i open it up to you now lets see how many new movies I have to rent/netflix
    after reading your posts

I'm planning on seeing inception this week, but I suppose I'll list some that I enjoyed (I'm no movie critic, I like what I like... no real explanation)

One of my all time faves is The Godfather II

I liked Man on Fire a lot

I like Zombie movies and flicks like Evil Dead

I liked Book of Eli quite a bit too

I'm also going to see predators (just to see what they did with it) and a few others soon, so I'll let you know if I see anything worth talking about.

BTW - I hated Avatar except for the 3d, so I don't really follow the Academy very well.

I'd say Book of Eli is one of the better movies I've seen recently. Hurt Locker is another.

I actually didn't really like Dark Knight. The first time I saw it was at the midnight showing, and that was good, but when I sat down to rewatch it I didn't like it much at all. To me, Heath's Joker was more about shock value (whereas Jack was total insanity), so rewatching it just didn't do it for me.

Favorite movie of all time - I wouldn't even know how to start to think about that one...

I'm partial to vampire movies, and the most recent one I've seen that I really liked was 30 Days of Night.

For zombie movies, I thought 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks later were fantastic. Even though they got progressively worse as films (much like The Matrix...), I still like the Resident Evil series.

Ever since my daughter was born I have only been able to see kids films so the last two I saw were cats and dogs, and despicable me (which wasn't bad for a kids film). I also did get to enjoy book of eli. But I don't enjoy most new films, which are less about the story and more about special effects, 3d and shock value. One of my favorites is tank girl to give you an idea. But with depressive economy, my having been laid off, and the future of our society so bleak. I have found myself leaning more towards feel-good films like a comedy or even an occasional drama if its good. Of course shootem up movies always make me happy.
I also must admit the what I have been watching is MST3K so they are bad movies, but funny. I also must say I enjoyed the newer star trek if just for the story.

Well Dark Knight is one of my favorite movies, but I first saw it when it came out a couple years ago so it doens't fit the word "recent" for me. The best movie I've seen recently would have to be Taken, which I finally saw last weekend. I thought it was fantastic.

Moat recently I took my younger siblings to see "despicable me" actually a very enjoyable movie, though I wouldn't buy the DVD when it comes out if someone had it I would watch it again. I hear good things about "inception" "dinner for smucks" and especially "Scott pilgram versus the world" so I'll probably try to see those three if I can find the time though I don't enjoy Steve Carrel in movies too much (animated ones aside) so he might get dropped. I likemovies that are different and don't follow the same basic story lines of what seems like every movie the put out these days and I here both Scott pilgram and inception fit the bill.

Default Good movies to watch a few times

I will throw you all for a loop and say Blazing Saddles, I watched it last night for the who knows number of times. sometimes you just need humor.

also watched Second Hand Lions not too long ago. And then there was Young Frankenstein. The Ghost and the Darkness.

for animated UP, Cars, Toy Story, and many more were good. You gotta love all the adult one liners that show up in the Pixar animated movies.

Obviously, Blade Runner for me in the Sci Fi genre.
I think the photography and Vangelis soundtrack combination is a master piece for it's time. The existential theme is not my thing but the story is told very well.

    Others on my List
    The Matrix Trilogy
    Avatar
    Heat
    Dear Hunter
Grondhog Day (what can I say!)

Havn't seen Inception yet but plan to

Taken, and Law abiding citizen are two of the best Ive seen in a while.
Youth in revolt is kind of funny, if you like michael cera, and I liked kick-ass, or at least most of it.
