Good job, Don. Shooting can be more dangerous to others than driving and safe handling should be second nature.

Agreed Sir. I've taken my kids and wife to army shooting range few times to try 9mm pistol. Just to learn to handle guns safely and to find out that shooting is totally something else than what Bruce Willis does in the movies.
Kids weren't interested in shooting much but after few times at the range my wife became pretty good at moving and standing targets. I lost my interest to teach her before she came better than me The same had happened already with bowling'That is what i do. I drink and i know things'

I remember at about 16, going "shooting" with some friends. The oldest among us was I think 17, the youngest 12. the 5 of us had a variety of long guns. 22lr, 410 double barrel, 12 gauge. The police stopped on the road as we were walking.
"What are you kids doing"? "Oh nothing, just out shooting". "What are you shooting"? "Just stuff". "Ok, be careful ok"? "OK".
Then they left. The 12yo was carrying the 410 that she handled quite easily. She kept complaining that she wanted to shoot the 12 gauge. Finally we relented. "No not like that"!! Too late, she planted herself right on her butt!!! Hahaha we had a good laugh, then showed her how to do it right!
Today all this would be shocking I think. Back then we thought nothing of it. Of course we were all trained to respect guns, and gun safety.
