    Default Fountain Pens

It's going to be hard to find a decent piston-filler for 50-100. For that price you may be able to find a decently restored Parker 51, which is a great pen. Other inexpensive brands worth looking it are Bexley, Pilot/Namiki, and Aurora As mentioned above Richard Binder's site is great, but you should also check out the following:

    1) Pentrace Market Board
    2) Nibs.com
    3) Thefountainpennetwork.com

okay, so I looked at some fountain pens, holy shit! talk about pricey. I love writing and would choose it over typing any day. Anyone know of some cheaper starter pens?

    Look at

Noodler's Ink and pick one out.

Amazon carries them but they are a little more expensive there than Noodler's lists them. Someone just pointed me there and I do like the pen. They run around $20.

There is a dealer's list on Noodlers.

If you can find them, Shaeffer Javelin. I have 2 that I use, they stopped making them (I think). They retailed for 25 US, but I found some on clearance for 50% off (which is why I got 2). There are also some disposables made. I liked them before I got the Javelins. the disposables were pretty passable pens. I liked them, good for starting and if you ruin it, you don't have to worry about it

I found some Shaeffer Javelins out there just now. They use a cartridge. Nice looking.

The Noodler Ahab has a pump. It uses bottled ink.

    So many choices.

I have three studios. Can't go wrong with it. My favourite fountain pen by far.

    The Goulet Pen Company

Not affiliated at all, just a happy addict This couple has built the buisness from scratch and just opened a brick and morter store. Check out the Platinum Preppy line of pens, best bang for the buck. The Lamy is also great and a bit more interesting.
