levi's 501.. how do you shink to fit?
maybe a silly thread idea.. how many of you out there live in a pair of jeans?.. being in los angeles my entire life.. designer jeans are a big thing.. however.. i'm a purist and will never stray from my beloved 501's.. anyone else out there? how do you get them broken in.. i know people who've sat in bathtubs and worn them till they've dried.. people who wade around in the ocean..
personally, i wash hot and dry hot.. then i stretch them back out as i wear them..
if it's not the 501... which jean do you chose?

Thanked: 983I wear the cheapest pair of jeans I can find. I have found that Levi's don't last like they used to. If I want a quality pair of jeans I buy R.M Williams. They are what Levi's used to be like, tough, heavy duty and durable. Moleskins are even better and a definate favourite of mine, but I haven't had a pair of them in a long while. Too hot in the sub-tropical climate I find myself in these days.
I would like to get myself a pair of the original button fly jeans. Do they still make these?
Mick
P.S Jean, like the word Pant in reference to a type of clothing is incorrect. Jeans and Pants are two halves that make a whole. if you buy a Pant or a Jean, you are only covering one leg. you need the pair to cover both legs.Last edited by MickR; 01-13-2011 at 09:12 AM. Reason: P.S

that's interesting.. i was using jean as a plural.. to imply i purchased more than several pair..
on the otherhand.. my 501 originals are the button flys.. the tags state they are made in mexico.. but as far as i'm concerned.. mexican is american.

501's were 20+ years ago...
Wash hot and air dry was my method... Man that was a long time ago... They still make them?
Anyways, Wrangler carpenter... I think I have pair's that are 5+ years old... Maybe that's because I wear a uniform at work...Life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated...

I have several 501s that I bought in '93.
I just washed, hot, and wore.

when i was a teen.. i also liked the worn look.. i usually took the microplane to them...
all the "work" i used to do was skateboarding and pretending to play the guitar in a lousy sounding band.
