Thanked: 101Some nice guns guys! My computer won't allow me to load pics.....I do have a nice K31 like the OP posted. Has the soldier tag under the butt. Shoots well, but it throws empty brass right on top of my head. Also have a M91 like OP's as well. It is a New England Westinghouse that made it's way to the Finns too. It has the SA in the square on the ring. It accounted for my first 2 deer killed ever. It was given to me by a friend. He had 2. He gave me one. I handload and cast bullets for all of my guns...I have "a couple"........

Okay, as requested, more pictures
The Pedersoli Sharps 1874 .45-70. I generally launch 535 grain grease groove slugs with 70 grains of Goex FFG.
That thirty round group represents over 2 1/4 pounds of lead down range. Can I have a yee-haw?
My 1943 M1 affectionately called Athena.
And my 1929 M1903-A1 "Artemis." That's a ten round slow fire group at 100 yards. Greek surplus HXP ammo.
Dontcha hate flyers?Last edited by Library Guy; 01-21-2011 at 01:06 AM.

That Sharps looks even better in a full-size photo. Lead thrown downrange means it was a good day. The more lead thrown, the better the day. And not only did you chuck over two pounds of lead, you also burned up more than a quarter pound of black in doing it! I'll bet your shoulder was screaming for the ice pack the next day.
Not bad shoosting with that '03, either, considering the HXP usage. I do hate flyers, but even those flyers are lethal, and that stuff is infamous for them. My Pappy's always had a soft spot for the Garand, and I can appreciate them, but the old bolties are my favorites. That's not to say that semi's don't have a place in my collection: I have a minty '66 Factory 26 SKS-P imported by Norinco. The -P denotes a 16" bbl and a side-mounted scope rail on the action, but the rail is hard to fit because it is only 3/8" rather than the traditional 1/2" for side-mount accessories (such as the PSO and AK scope families). That one rests under my bed, silently awaiting the zombie invasion.
At the moment, my collecting is at a standstill, but I really, REALLY want to add a nice Argentine Mauser to my collection. Something about that 7.65x54 Argy just tickles my fancy...

I don't know what you think of him personally, but ANY friend that will just up and give you an [SA]-stamped NEW M91 is a dear, DEAR friend for LIFE. When was the last time you bought him a steak? I would suggest that, if it was longer than 72 hours ago, you do so again.
All jokes aside, I'd love to see it. I'm sort of a Mosin nut, so you can understand my curiosity...

Thanked: 983A couple of shots of the only one I have photo's of, a Savage 112 in 30-06...Discontinued these days I believe.
The rifles I no longer have were the ones I loved the most. Stupid bloody government gun laws meant I had to sell them or have them taken away. Ruger Mini 14 SS, a Bentley pistol grip 12G shotgun that belonged to my deceased father, and though I didn't know it at the time, I could have kept my Marlin lever action in .357.
I also have two Lee Enfields, but one of those has been sporterised, The other is battle dressed with full wood and is my favourite. It was the only one I was able to rescue that belonged to my Grandfather. The many other's he had are lost to me forever as my dear Grandmother in her wisdom got rid of them all.

Here's my m/28, stamped 1942. Part of our history. As the army gave up using these rifles back 20+ years ago, those in service had a change to buy them cheaply. That is how i got mine. Unlike most rifles, mine isn't marked with 'SA' (=Suomen Armeija/Finnish Army), but single 'S' which means it was made for and used by Suojeluskunta (White Guard).
I haven't used this much as i have all the changes to practice shooting with various weapons at work, more than i'm interested, but this still shoots a nice 10 cm pile from a standard distance of 150 m/164 yards.
All these rifles are better known as 'pystykorva' (Spitz Dog), because of the front sight that reminds of the Finnish Spitz dog ears up.Last edited by Sailor; 01-21-2011 at 01:20 PM.

Love those Finn adaptations. I want to add a nice m28/30 to my collection at some point, and if I can get one of the beautiful M39's in arctic birch that won't cost me my eternal soul, I guess I'd have to jump at it. What flavor of surplus do you like to shoot? My favorite above all is the Yugoslavian heavy ball of '70's vintage. However, the Bulgarian heavy ball from the '50's and '60's Czech LPSz are great back-ups. All three are confirmed to shoot 3cm or better at 100m.

I would consider him a very good friend. He is a local detective and I cleaned both his NEW M91s and then when I was done he told me to pick one. I told him I did not expect anything in return, but he insisted...A steak dinner?....He is a staunch vegetarian and he was also upset about me killing deer with it...He appreciated that I ate the deer though. I also have an M38 and an M44 as well. All of them get fed handloads. About to cast for them and shoot Paper Patch through them as well.
