.223 and 9mm will perform
the .223 or 5.56 round will perform to 400 meters with excellent one shot, one kill results, Past that I prefer a .30cal round. As far as handguns go I would rather put a 15 round 9mm in my wifes hand that she can comfortably draw from concealment and get off two in to the kill zone in under 2.5 seconds than a .45 cal pistol that is too heavy and large for her hand to comfortably shoot. I dont have any problem with people who prefer the .45; I personally think the .40S&W is a great round and have a Glock in that caliber in every size. But dont claim a round will not stop a human target when well shot. It has been proven to perform well. The problem enters when stress takes over the shooters mindset and they dont remember concentrate on the front sight and get a good trigger pull. Dry practice is you best friend and imparts the muscle memory that allows you to shoot without thinking of it and hit what your aiming at.

Thanked: 1936Now that's the words of someone who knows a bit about shooting. The two most important things about using any firearm is knowing your weapon & hit what you are shooting at. Everything else is a mute point...

Can't you transfer to another state and keep your pension?
Tbh I was more jealous in the shotgun thread. Riot guns (shotguns with pump action or semi auto functionality) are outright banned here, and even for a simple dual barrel shotgun there are so many hoops to jump through that owning one legally is a pain in the ass and pretty expensive.
Of course, even if you do own one, you gotta keep them locked up, with the ammo separated in a locked box. And you'd better not shoot a burglar with it or you'll be looking at manslaughter.
We all have 'Poor Joe' to thank for that. He walked into a gun store, bought a large bore gun and a box of shells, walked out, and started shooting colored people. The same weekend, the long dead gun legislation proposal was voted in near unanimously. Because noone wanted to be seen voting against. Kind alike the patriot act in the US.
But I digress. Good job posting pics here guys.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.

They'll die. Maybe just not right there and then.
I was told by LEOs that sometimes even a couple of bullets straight in the heart don't kill or even stop a guy if he's high on adrenalin (or less natural substances).
Even if it only takes a couple of seconds, that may be enough to stick you with a knife. I think Nelson (thebigspendur) had a colleague to which that had happened. Got stabbed after emptying his gun in the other guy's chest. IIRC the only 'sure' immediate kill is hitting the head or the spine.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.

I've seen a lot of people on here mention .223 and 5.56 but I've never tried 5.56 round. since I've only tried .223, I was just wondering if anyone that has tried both has a preference.
as to the whole 9mm/45 thing it seems to me that most people think its a choice between carrying 15 rounds of 9mm(baretta) and carrying 7 rounds of .45(1911). personaly I split the difference and got a glock that carries 10 rounds of .45acp.

What can you legally own in Belgium? They've done things that are even crazier here (in the past) with regards to bans. The "assault rifle" ban was a joke. As long as the gun didn't look like an assault rifle or hold more than a certain number of rounds, it could be exactly the same caliber and specs and be legal.
That has gone away (mostly) now though.
