Alas, the sun must set, even on the most beautiful of days.

I've read that his suicide was amongst the most gruesome ever (double barrelled shotgun to the mouth/face) quite a mess indeed. Papa indeed had quite a life one that most men would envy but it did come to a sad and tragic end. I'd say however that he was the poster boy for "What a ride!"

Thank heavens we have no mosquitos here. From my experience i know that being such a strong medicine gin doesn't only keep malaria away but can easily kill the person who's drinking it. Hangover is terrible.
Those who've had it never go to hell as they already lived thru one here on earth.
On the celebrated and confident Sailors Horror Scale there are only two drinks that are even more lethal, eh effective: Unicum Zwack and Russian Vodka scented with cinnamon

Haven't had occassion to get really carried away with it but I can tell by initial indications that if I ever did it would indeed be quite painful. Even in moderation, when I drink gin and tonic, I tend to wake up in the middle of the night feeling like I've never had a drink of water in my entire life.

Now, the thing to remember is that quinine is strong medicine, so I'd say easy on the Indian tonic water, heavy on the Tanqueray.
A buddy of mine has a rule that says 1 bottle of Tonic water should at least last one bottle of gin.
    Tanqueray?
    Mixed in those proportions?

Another thing that's really nice is to put a couple of slices of cucumber in it. Makes it a really refreshing drink on a hot day...!

I wasn't aware of Sylvia Plath's method of suicide. I looked it up, and you're right, CO poisoning is rather gruesome. Not to say that a shotgun to the face isn't. I can't help but think that if Hemingway had committed suicide in this day and age, someone would have sued A&F for selling him the shotgun. Perhaps we should now return this thread to it's regularly scheduled topic.
