Yea, that about sums it up. One could buy a couple of nice Seiko's for the cost of a "tune-up" on the Rolex. I'm just having a hard time parting with that kind of dough when I have a perfectly functional Seiko (minus the diamonds and the real gold). Between the Rolex & the BMW, no matter what the problem, the solution seems to be the magic number of $700 to repair it.

Thanked: 2591I have been meaning to get a nice watch (tired of Casio ) for quite some time now but always thought the really nice ones that are not battery operated are out of my range.
Looking at the thread I decided to check out those Seiko watches and got this one
Amazon.com: Seiko Men's SKX009 Diver's Automatic Watch: Seiko: Watches
A very good price from Amazon, and nice big size as I like bigger watches.Stefan

Thanked: 0Another one worth looking at is here:
Swiss Watches, Classic Watches, Designer, Gold and Diamond Watches
He started off very cheap, I had a C6 Kingfisher which i loved (sadly lost it on holiday). But the quality was superb. Also nice if your wanting some thing a little different from the main makers.

Lexus effect…Seikos are great!!!.. price friendly...and probably tell time more accurately then most premium Swiss brands and serviced less. But at the end of the day I would prob take a Vintage Omega that’s 1-2 minutes off per week. I’m part of watchuseek.com, find a seller/ member that you can talk too and look on Ebay as well. Make sure you see movement pics etc and check reviews from other buyers. Also Flea markets or Antique markets with watchmakers on site they got some cool fully working vintages at a good price. I got a vintage Omega Seamaster Day/Date, but the days of the week are in Spanish. I got It on ebay for $240 w/ shipping, the English version went for like $800-$1000 dollars not serviced mine was mint with a few scratches.

If I was the OP I would get a quartz piece and not spend much more than $100 bucks. There are Seiko's and Citizens and when shop NBC has their deals you can get an Invicta Quartz for less than $100.

My wife bought me a citizen Eco drive watch a couple years back that I believe is solar. As long as it spends time outside or on a window sill it keeps time well enough plus it's pretty thin and stays out if the way. That being said, I love my Timex. It gets worn 80% of the time even though it looks like crap. I'm thinking I may replace it with a High Gear altimiter watch this year.

For that price range, it is hard to beat the Seiko Monster. On sale for $150 shipped on Amazon right now. I have a bias for divers, and of course it will depend on how big your wrist is. The orange is a little bit more, but still in your budget.
