The only problem is silver will tarnish and turn black and you will be always polishing it. You can get bullion grade silver which is 99.99% pure and it is resistant to tarnish but I don't know anyone who fashions things out of it, you would have to go custom which is expensive. You can check out gold vermeil which is sterling silver with gold plate overlay and probably these days sterling with Ion Plate in gold also called "Swiss Gold layering".
