Thanked: 884IF ya want to go BIG time. I saw an old Johnson Kilowatt Desk for sale on the bay a while back. I imagine it would heat a decent sized room very nicely.
I used to have a pair of Drake's and a Heathkit SB-200 that I ran (very illegally) on 11 meters "back in the day."
Got an old Allied DX-160 that I listen to foreign broadcast on every now and then nowadays.
I no longer have the urge to acquire radio stuff.

Sigh, I need to test the heck out of my quad band mobile antenna.
Saturday the dealer put my car on a lift and jammed the antenna into the ceiling. Bent the hell out of it.
I wondered why they weren't charging me for the oil change. I knew immediately when I walked out to the car and saw the bent mast.

Thanked: 983I don't think the cost of oil is a fair replacement for a bent aerial mate. Don't they know how much those things cost. I would be making them replace the damn thing as well.

Thanked: 983I wish I could add something to this thread, but as I don't have a radio licence, I am just a lowly UHF user. One day I plan on studying for my licence. I would still have to save up the cost of a set though, and they ain't cheap.
