The Vino and .com part 2
So, a good friend of mine emailed me earlier about a cool looking deal on wine. Apparently besides the 'cloud' the other big thing on the internet is social marketing or whatever you want to call it. Looks like there are a ton of marketing companies, the most famous of which is perhaps groupon, that negotiate very deep discounts at various merchants.
I don't see how this is sustainable, but I figured while the advertising dollars flow I could join the party swirling with my pinkie extended...
Oh, the crazy deal is $70 towards purchase at wine.com for $30 ($35, but there's a $5 code on their front page, and they gave me another $3, so it ended being $27).
Here's the link to the deal on eversave.com if any of you want to get on the gravy train too
BTW I just ordered:
Cristom 2007 Sommers Reserve Pinot Noir
Cristom 2008 Mt. Jefferson Cuvee Pinot Noir
King Estate 2009 Signature Pinot Noir

Reminds me of a current groupon - $25 for $75 worth of wine at Barclay's. I know nothing about wine, so I didn't bite.

yeah, after that ebay card i got a month or two ago that ben posted about, I've been getting emails from them every day.
i must admit that barclay's thing was the one that made me click on them, but when i looked at what they have i couldn't close the tab fast enough
otoh wine.com - i didn't think twice for a second - they have really good stuff, and i've ordered in the past from them when my local shop couldn't get anymore a wine i really liked

I guess that means I shouldn't get my dad the Barclay's for Fathers' Day...

Well, that depends entirely on what kind of message do you want to send him
But if you plan to be on his will, don't

I just talked to them on the phone and I'm rather impressed with them. They said they'll ship it on monday and it will be here on wednesday. They delayed the shipment so that it doesn't sit with UPS over the weekend
I like when people do their business properly. With their selection I think they just won my frequent return even though I have a couple of nice stores locally with great niche stuff.
I guess this deserves a nice rioja to celebrate. Faustino, here I come!!!

They're running the promo again! I thought it was a pretty good deal last time around, so I've ordered again. They have a lot of good wine at good prices (I've got few things even without a $35 discount like this).
In case anybody is interested, here's the link.
BTW I think they give another $5 to new customers, so it's $30 for $70 worth of wine.com wines.Last edited by gugi; 12-09-2011 at 03:24 AM.

Now why do I have to spend all that money on "wine" when I can just mosey on down to Walgreen's and get all the Ripple I want for a song and it doesn't have to be shipped.
