No mentioned A Thin Blue Line? I have friends that have only experienced British Comedy via Mr Bean, and while funny, I've had to try and explain just what they've been missing.
Ahh, Red Dwarf, HHGTTG, Are You Being Served, Black Adder, Fawlty Towers, Flying Circus, my youth is being remembered!
Edit: Can't believe I almost forgot Benny Hill!!

Someone mention Hitchhikers? Got it on VHS (remember those? Now long gone with Betamax). Got the omnibus trilogy in four parts as well as the other books. Also got Dirk Gentlys holistic detective agency (now on tv).
Funny thing about Hitchikers was the character Ford Prefect (named after an old british car) was misread by US folks as Ford Perfect, they thought it was a spelling mistake lol (no offence, I'm not savlon)

Lol I too have it on VHS, but the VCR/DVD Combo is in the boy's room now I'm a big fan of the late Douglas Adams (my username might have been a clue) but I was very disappointed with the TV adaptation of Dirk Gently.

I'm disappointed that no one's mentioned Mitchell & Webb. On the other hand, that means I get to do it. They're the modern day Fry & Laurie, speaking of which...A Bit of Fry and Laurie.
Also, not for everyone, but my favourite British show is definitely Monkey Dust.Last edited by Goggles; 09-04-2011 at 11:06 PM.

The little bit of Fry and Laurie sketch where Stephen Fry plays Michael Jackson always cracks me up
