I troll with flies on sinking fly line, and when the waters warm up...I troll with a lead core line...Trout only for me. About another 10 days until ice out on the big lake...then it's Salmon Baby in my canoe.

That is some beautiful "canoe" there.
When I was a kid of 11 or 12, my cousin and I would troll for trout in a heavy wooden 16 foot skiff with oars in the California Sierras. I guess it kept us out of trouble, and I did sleep well at night. My Uncle was a pretty smart guy.
My Dad was never around, so my Uncle would often take me along. He is the one who taught me to hunt and fish and do it safely and with respect to the animals we hunted. (Dove, Quail, Ducks and geese along with Deer, rabbits and squirrel). I'm 66 now and he is gone, but I still think of him a lot and how fortunate I was/am to have had a guy like him in my life.
Uncle was an Irishman who married my Dad's sister. He did like his drink, and once told me that if I put a worm in a glass of water, it would swim around and do just fine. He then said that if I took that worm out of the water and put it in a glass of whiskey, it would die. Then he asked me what I could learn from that observation. I said, "Well, Uncle, I guess it is that if a person drinks whiskey, it's gonna kill him." He replied in a kindly manner after taking a sip of amber liquid by saying, "No, no , Louie, it shows that if you drink whiskey on a regular basis, you'll never get worms."
