I'm with you. Winding the watch every day is a little ceremony and keeps you in closer touch with the timepiece.
I have several handwinds and a case of pocket watches that are all handwind of course.

I don't have anything old or valuable but I do like Bulova, got six of them so I can choose the one that goes with whatever I'm wearing that day.
I have tried a couple of the auto's but I don't wear my watches often enough and they keep stopping, I don't want one of those watch cases that move constantly, I like my watch case with the glass top so I can see what I have.
Ever since Citizen bought Bulova they have tried to upgrade the line. They have several watches they have brought back from the past like the Moonwatch and the Navy Diver and the Devil Diver.
The only issue is they tend to use a low grade Myota Mvmt. It runs fine but you can buy it for 40 bucks. Some of the reissues are Swiss Made but they are above a grand.
That's the thing with autos. They are made to be worn unless you get a watch winder and keep it on that. Really, if you don't wear it that often you are better off with a Quartz based watch. They have them in battery models and solar models and models with rotors like autos but once wound those stay powered for months.
Of course a good old fashioned manually wound watch is a possibility.
Yes, I think if I bought another watch it would be a solar powered quartz based one. They probably are the most accurate time keepers and require minimal battery replacements. It would also mean I'd need to buy a watch winder for my auto. Luckily, I need another watch like I need another hole in the head.

Each of the kids are getting a new watch this year
Casio tough solar for my adventurer lad, and a citizen eco drive for my eco daughter..
Both are of the no wind, no battery to replace lines.
See how they like them tomorrow..

Big, I'm a little disappointed in you, that's why they make watch winders I have at least 12 on them now. One goes on the wrist the other goes on the winder....as for quartz, I have some, but I'm not happy about it...
