40mm isn't considered big these days it's really average and many many pieces are in the 42 and 44mm category. Of course you can go to Invicta and get a 50mm+ watch and wear it on your 6.5 inch wrist. It would put a clown to shame.

Smaller sizes are coming back. There are a load of 38mm watch out there now and increasing numbers at 36mm. Smaller than that I'm not sure you'll see for a while except in remakes of older pieces.
I hear that Invicta is making a watch that also doubles as a spare tire for a Mini....

He picked it up from Chrono24 (dot ca version), used a credit card, so funds stay in escrow until you are delivered the watch and can get it checked out. $4,000 Canadian, smoking deal, if you take your time, they're out there.
Let me tell you something about Rolex, my parents bought me one in the 80s when they were in Switzerland, I wore it for about a year and then I was tired of resetting the time, it was always a few minutes off, so I sent it back to Rolex for service. They sent it back a few weeks later and no change, I sent it back again with an explanation of what was happening m,and they sent it back again. Still no change, as a matter of fact it was worse, and in this letter I asked them how they got their reputation for excellence in watchmaking, and how they stayed in business. That time it came back fixed...true story.

There is no magic in a watch. It's just a bunch of gears and cams and "jewels" often times sourced in the "East" and assembled in Switzerland and cased and adjusted there. Like the drug companies advertising is their biggest budget item. Rolex is no different. Visit their campus and you'll see the town where it's located has everything named Wilsdorf which is the outfit owning them. So when you buy a Rolex you be contributing to the new park or theater or whatever. That ten grand watch probably doesn't cost them more than $1500 to make and that's being generous.

I can't tell you how many times I got a "good" Swiss watch and it ran like cr** out of the box and was returned to the manufacturer and came back either unchanged or worse and had to be returned multiple times. The only brand I never had an issue with is Seiko and I'm talking their good stuff like Grand Seiko. Actually their cheap stuff too.

What I find interesting, is for decades 31-34mm was considered a "common" sized men's watch. Only last couple decades we've got into these 36mm is a women's watch, men must wear minimum 40mm...insane imo.

I'm 6'4" and wear my Day-Date and it is a classic size.

On the other hand, nothing makes me laugh more, than some dudes calling 36mm a women's watch, then flashing a 40mm Day-Date that looks like a dinner plate on their dainty wrists....lol!
Frank, in my opinion we can blame obesity and Jean-Claude Biver for having popularized oversized watches. I enjoy wearing a 36mm watch, especially if it’s a dress watch. I don’t care about fashion, I wear what suits my wrist. It’s also a reminder for me to stay slim.

I had to google Jean Claude, but yea, let’s blame him.
Damn Luxemburgians, supersizing stuff for no reason..
And it’s funny you mention obesity as a contributor cause I was just talkin to my lad about the new watch strap and how it’s got some extra holes so it’ll fit him one day, or me still if I gain weight.
He asked how fat I’d have to get to gain meat on my wrist? Haha.
I thought, hmmm yea, your wrists seem pretty much fixed regardless of the scale. But then again, if you go real extreme, you could get some folds there…

I have to say something here, I personally like the move to 40mm watches. They fit my wrist better and are easier on the eyes. To me personally anything over 45mm has to be for a really big guy, my son's are perfect examples, one is six five and the other is six seven, on them a 45mm watch looks good, but for others they just look foolish. JMHO.

There seems to be no problem with folks, including women with 6 inch wrists or smaller wearing an apple watch or a Samsung Watch which is around 45mm or so. If anything that trend might more normalize large watches. While on that subject how about folks (like me) who wear a "smart watch" and a regular watch at the same time?

My bride fits into that category. Got her the Apple Watch 3 I think it was, and she never went back.
That unit, maybe cause of the shape, doesn’t seem too large on her, but I don’t wear them.
She can answer calls, find her phone, and check her steps and heart rate. Even tells time. But needs a nightly sleep on the charging stand.
My affection for apple products stops at the phone or iPad.

In my opinion those are devices, not watches. In that respect there fine, but as a watch, no, they don't cut it.
