I like mechanical watches, my personal favorites are Omegas I have a Speedmaster Professional (moonwatch) and a Seamaster Professional (James Bond). Also I own a Rolex GMT Master and a Tag Heuer Formula 1 (quartz movement) that is the one I use everyday. IMHO mechanical watches are the best, they are worth every penny of the investment!

I have been looking at Invicta watches lately. A couple of the guys I work with wear them. I tried on the "Subaqua Noma III" model 6043, at Kohl's, and liked the looks. But after some research online, I'm not so sure the Invicta would be a wise purchase. Apparently, from what I've read, their warranty is crap, and their repair service sucks. Also, it seems that the QC at Invicta is wanting of a higher standard since some units seem to ship out fine while others have problems like stems pulling out, or crystals chipping upon very slight impact, etc.
Am I on the right track to stay away from these watches?
That's pretty much what I've heard, as well. That being said I do like the look of some of their watches. I just can't justify the price. They seem to be a pricier fashion watch brand.
For something in the same price range check out Orient. Nice, well built watches with an in house movement. And you can usually find coupon codes for 30-40% off the MSRP.
Here's few watches i got not so long ago. I got them serviced and still need to get new Hirsch straps.
Two Omegas. According to serial number the one on the left is from 1936 and blue faced Omega Geneve is from 1971.

There is always a brand everyone loves to hate and these days it's Invicta. If you buy one of their Swiss made watches they are quality pieces and you need have no worries. Their other watches are assembled in their factory in Panama. Those watches are hit and miss but of course those are bang for the buck watches so in return for the price you accept the fact the quality could be lower. As far as their service goes it used to be terrible but has improved markedly the last couple of years.
They are a big outfit and make money by making little on each individual watch. If the stories about them circulated on watch sites were true they would have gone out of business years ago. Some of the models they sell couldn't be sold by typical makes for 5x the price.
I have an Invicta Grand Diver I bought for about $124, automatic movement, keeps pretty good time, and I like the looks of it. Runs about a minute or two fast per week, but so what. It's good enough for me. I had another of the same model from about 1 1/2 years ago, and the movement was quite different, ran fast at a minute or so per day, so apparently they have improved something...
Good to know about the Invictas. Like I said, I like the looks of some of their watches but have been concerned about QC. Same as when I worked retail, when you do something good, that person tells 4 people. When you do something bad, that person tells 40 people.
Time to start watching A new watch on sale every hour every day at eWatches.com for when one of the models I've been eyeing comes up.
At work i wear observer. That is a great watch although i do not rely on compass a bit. I used to serve on a ship that was equipped with so called magnetic shield protector and that made the compass go crazy. Couldn't get that working unless taking off the battery. Otherwise observer is just great.
