Just took charge of this Hamilton Kaki field automatic, now I've been looking for something I would class as a weekend watch a bit to nice for the kind of rough and tumble it would receive on a daily basis through the week with me, also smart enough to be worn with a suit, It as a classical retro look to the watch face, with typical white Arabic numerals on a black watch face, a 38mm watch with black leather strap and contrasting white stitching, the quality is excellent and I did a fair bit of research before I actually purchased the watch the movement is a Swiss Cal. ETA 2824-2 and the same movement is found in watches costing 5 or 6 times the price of this watch, which is always a good sign I think.

    FEATURES

    38MM
    Automatic
    Lug Width 20MMLug
    Sapphire Crystal
    Stainless Steel
    Water Resistance 10 bar (100 m) /145 psi (328 ft)

I have the khaki in the original 34mm size with a Swiss handwind Mvmt 2803 I think. It looks about the same as yours. Great watch.

    Default Watches Anyone?

    Hey Guys,

I figured I could contribute here in "The finer Things in Life" and at the same time see if anyone else shares my other passion/hobby.

About two years ago I started to "collect/acquire" some timepieces. All I have are "affordable" pieces (affordable to me at least) but plan on growing the collection.

Here is an old picture (About 1 year) of what my collection looks like. Some have been sold and a couple have been purchased. I try to keep the collection down to 20 (Since that is how many pieces my custom made box fits).

    And here is what I am wearing today - A Sea-Gull M177S

Oh man did you find my weakness! I may love shaving, beer, and a few other items but watches are my thing! I should start collecting but have not had the spare funds to support it yet...Well I guess that will be the 2 areas I check in the antique stores now. That Sea-Gull is a beauty.

I too have a weakness for watches... I have an Elgin pocketwatch that my parents got me for one of my birthdays, a gold plated Tissot from the 1950s that used to belong to my grandfather, a Slava from the 1980s that also used to belong to my grandfather, and an Omega Co Axial that my parents got me when I graduated from med school... I'll try to find some pictures soon....

I have to be honest, the automatic movements are really neat (and I love the sound of watches ticking), but they have a big weight... and the hand wound watches are slimmer.

Having said all of that, mechanical watches in general are amazing amazing pieces of machinery.

I have a Tissot from the 1950s that used to belong to my grandfather, and a Slava. My pièce de résistance, though, is an Omega Co axial, 2500 movement.
