Quite a few rungs down on the ladder from the SeaDweller is my vintage 1960s Omega Seamaster DeVille, which is my everyday watch. Goes with a suit or a polo and jeans. Straight out of Mad Men...

Have you seen the prices on new DeVilles lately?

Your watch is one that has stood the test of time right up there with any Rolex.

I would be lucky if a leather strap would last me 2 months.

Not sure what you do with a leather band watch to ruin it that quickly? I wouldn't go diving with a leather band. I have two old Seiko dive watches for that. Inexpensive but practical beaters.

I have not looked at prices for a new Omega. Probably couldn't afford one. I am lucky enough to also have my grandfather's gold Omega which was a retirement gift to him from his employees. I enjoy wearing that one on special occasions.

The new Omega with the 321 movement is going for US $20,000, interesting to see how it will sell.

I think the new DeVille with the coaxial mvmt in stainless can be had for around 4 grand.
