Thanked: 198it makes me feel old to consider that i was in high school during the start of the hair metal era, even had a local band in the mix for a while, in KIX. lived in bremerton wa in the mid 80's, so i figure i was there during the birth, or maybe while grunge bands were starting to walk for themselves. Had the opportunity to see Queensryche in seattle, but damn you ozzy, why did you have to cancel the showw. but i ramble

I was driving in my car the other day when the classic rock station played Nirvana. Nirvana is on the classic rock station. I drank deeply that night.
Did any of us ever believe that we'd live this long?

I really felt weird when I learned that Paul McCartney was 27 when the Beatles broke up. I looked at myself at 27 (not that long ago), and thought that it would have been impossible. I think people matured faster back then.

It's a grunge thread, it's not supposed to be happy. I hate my parents.

Thankfully, my children have all been introduced to grunge with this: Rockabye Baby! Nirvana
My oldest, who will turn five this winter, use to want to listen to it all day. Even now if a Nirvana song comes on the radio or I pop in an album she'll exclaim "Oh, I like this song!" and then hum along to it. If we're in the house she dances like a maniac.

ARRRGGGGHHHHH!!!! My hair! It just turned all gray
I was stationed at Fort Lewis from 92 to 95 and spent many weekends in Seattle. I recall listening to 107.7 WKND and going to see all the bands play. I still have to say that my favorite "band" from that era was Temple of the Dog. Thank God for Lithium and Pearl Jam Radio on XM!
