Default 3000+ year old strategy game (Go, Igo, Weiqi, Baduk)

For three to four thousand years Asia has been playing a game popularly known as Go in the west (Igo in Japanese, Weiqi in Chinese, and Baduk in Korean). I learned how to play the game a number of years ago, but didn't begin to learn how to play well until recently when I started playing online on a rather great Go server with other players, a very helpful community, and doing a bit of reading..

In the west even those who do not play Chess know what Chess is. This game may be unfamiliar to you at the moment, but there are well in excess of 100 million Go players in the world (i think something like 18% of the Chinese population play Go, and that's only China), and more and more western people are learning to play.

Comparison Between Chess And Go is an interesting article that compares Chess and Go.

There are a number of online Go servers where players can meet to play.. KGS Go Server is one of them.

Who here plays Go? Who here would like to learn a great strategy game that they can enjoy for a lifetime? (people have been playing for over three millennia, and it is no less popular today) I definitely think Go is one of the finer things in life, and should be enjoyed by more.

I started playing chess at the age of 7, and have enjoyed the game ever since.
At times I've been playing other games as well, but seem to always come back to chess.

    Default board games and such

Just wondering what board/ cars games people enjoy, I quite enjoy rummikub, scrabble, upwords, and recently got introduced to risk which was good, used to play a bit of chess but wasn't very good.
I also like card games in the rummy vein, and recently cribbage. Can say that I certainly don't like poker.

Chess and playing against someone I know next to nothing about... you never know if he just made a beginners mistake and gonna loose his queen or if it's a trap!

Made a backgammon set at work to occupy ourselves in down time, made from a piece of box and spraypainted washers, dice currently courtesy of my phone.
