Nice. 1911s are still my favorite handguns.

That is really beautiful work. I am always amazed by engravers skill. I can't draw a square without having to use an eraser at least once, the idea of working in a medium where you can't erase your mistakes is the most amazing thing about it.

Your work, Ray, as I said on another thread, really stands out. Most engraving I've seen is gaudy and overdone. Your stuff is not. It's tasteful and beautiful. If I could afford a custom made razor, I'd have the blank sent to you before it was hardened. I am sitting here thinking of designs and how to afford it now. Curse you!

Wow this is simply gorgeous! Out of curiosity, how much do you charge to treat a 1911 like this?

As an update to this, the customer sent me pics the other day of the completed kit. He sent the gun out to Marvin Huey to have a case made. I think Marvin and his guys did a great job on the case and the accouterments.

I'm just curious about the price in general because the marksmanship is just so exquisite. Engraving is an upgrade I have no intention of doing when I pick one up next month...I'll be too busy spending all my money at the range lol

I've struggled to come up with something to say with feeling. The mammoth grips would have been good enough, like a fine feminine form with a loose wrap around the waist. The engraving, well, that's like adding a lace top to the previous image.

John Browning was a master blacksmith for sure.

    THanks Mike,

Your right John Browning was a genius mechanical designer. I am working on another one of his designs now. I have a 1903 Colt 32 auto hammerless that I am currently designing the engraving for. will be cutting it over the next couple weeks.

I sure would like to see some more pics of your work as I echo the thoughts above: elegant & classy, not gaudy as I have seen in the past.
