Do we have any audiophiles in the house?
I would be surprised if there weren't any, seeing as how the SR is the shaving equivalent of a 2A3 single watt amp.

I use to be years ago but not so much now. The prices got too high and the hype and fraud kind of took over with alot of the stuff.

The best high end stuff these days is DIY anyway. My last preamp/amp setup was a DIY kit from this place called Bottlehead. Alas, they too have forgetten that the original $99 tube preamp was the thing that made them popular and now the prices are way too steep to be called budget.
I wish they had not lost thier way because with some minimal effort, the kits could be made into decent looking components... a little bit of tiger stripe ebony, some minimal chrome work and viola!
Now I regret having sold them to finance another build, because the new components are out of reach... and these sounded so sweet...

Well by your avatar, you're like me and laugh at the audiophiles with thier 300 dollar a meter speaker cable and interconnects... HA! Know what I use for interconnects? Extremely thin magnet wire wrapped in a helix around aquaruim tubing and cheap Radio Shack RCA connectors... total cost per meter, about 10 cents and 30 minutes to put it together. Sounds just as good as any crazy silver or gold inteconnects. Speaker wire? Cat 5 cable.... works great!
Big Spender.... here's some links to get you back in the hobby for pennies!

and if you have to have fancy silver cables... here's how for about 20 - 25 bucks

In "my" room I have a Quad 33/303 combo with a pair of Tannoy Little Red monitors and in the living room I have just got a Onkyo NR5009 with a B & W MT30 home theatre system. I use all QED Cables
I wouldn't say I am an audiophile but I like my music/films to sound errrrr... just so

I did have a semi serious case of audiophilia when I was younger.
Practicality has taken a toll on that though.
These days I have consumer level products and find myself content with that.
There are days that I miss my Krell/Wilson Audio combo though...Bjoernar
Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years....

My system has been stable for a good 15 years now and I don't have plans to mess with it. At one time in the 1970s I used to build kits. As far as tubes go I wouldn't touch anything now. yes they sound better however unless I'm missing something the tubes made these days are junk with a capitol J and the remaining vintage stuff is getting too expensive. Unless you have great tubes in your equipment you will never know how good it can really sound and most of my stuff is hybrid except my power amp.
