Thanked: 1185Normally pockets are adequate but I do have kind of a canvas dopp bag that I occassionally carry pipe gear (a couple pouches of tobacco, a couple pipes and some pipe cleaners) and cigars in. I also have a messenger bag but seldom carry enough junk with me to justify carrying it much.

Thanked: 7So this morning I awoke to find a package on my doorstep. My Maxpedition Jumbo edc has arrived! I went a bit crazy with loading it so we will see what stays and what goes. Im thinking about doing a full review after a week or two including what I started out with in the bag, what I have taken out, and what I change around.
If any of you are interested let me know!

Thanked: 79You made a good choice. After years of trying various messenger bags, small backpacks, etc., the Jumbo just does the job best. I've taken it across three continents so far, and it still looks great. When travelling, my EDC kit consists of:
Sunglasses, spare readers.
Small first aid kit
Small bottle of water
Pen/Notebook
Digital camera
iPad
Cellphone
Chargers and adapters
Some kind of snack
Spare pistol and ammo (where allowed by law ). In some places, the bag's "secret" compartment has been my primary (and only) carry location, because I couldn't have anything concealed on body.
Spare knife.
All this stuff still leaves enough room for various odds and ends, e.g. small everyday purchases, to go into the bag's main compartment.
I've tried the same load-out with the larger Maxpedition Kodiak. This is also a great bag, but more of 2day trip solution than for daily walkabout. The Jumbo is a very nice compact and well thought-out solution.

I prefer to walk around with as little as I can get away with. Usually just a wallet and a phone, maybe a pen. I'll leave messenger bags to the messengers.

Thanked: 485I use the bag shown below when I go to town, etc. I hate carrying anything at all in my pockets; even my car keys annoy me. I never carry a wallet, only folded money. Then there's the phone, music player, etc. The bag carries all this plus maybe a novel, a small canvas bag handy for groceries, and can even carry a light jumper (pullover). It's a 're-purposed' Swiss bread bag, apparently, from WWII, issued to soldiers to carry their rations. It's been re-lined and uses vintage leather. Sadly, it seems they are no longer available (it was from Temple bags, it seems the web site has changed). It has four pockets inside which are handy for the phone, music player, etc.
Stranger, if you passing meet me and desire to speak to me, why should you not speak to me? And why should I not speak to you?

yeah I only have a simple one pocket canvas messenger bag for when I take my dogs on long walks and need to carry water, dog treats, nylon dog bowl, and their tennis ball.
Otherwise my cell, cardholder, pocket knife chapstick, pen, and small notebook fit in my pockets with my keys on a belt loop.
