You guys have touched a soft spot. Being a Southern MO hillbilly myself I do enjoy a good banjo picker. I take it in phases in my adult life. I tend to rotate between Bluegrass, Electric blues and Classic Rock.

No that's not weird, Hillbillies were the first headbangers. Blues and Classic Rock nestle quite nicely in there with Bluegrass.

Now here's a subject we can all agree on! I love bluegrass, I grew up on it. My little hometown hosted one of the biggest fiddle gatherings in the country, which of course was heavily bluegrass oriented. I don't play fiddle myself, but I play a mean mandolin. I tried to learn banjo, but it was more difficult than I thought it would be. I play fingerstyle and classical guitar pretty well so I thought banjo would be somewhat easy, but it's a completely different beast.

Here's a bluegrass performance of Jump by Van Halen

Trampled by Turtles fits in just fine!

If 32's going to throw a bend in the road with David Lee Roth, then chew on this one. I dedicate the next song to all the folks in Oz where the sun's just coming up to start their day....

Nothing weird at all. The Greatful Dead were a bluegrass band for several years before becoming one of the cornerstones of the Haight-Ashbury music scene. They had a nice blend of bluegrass, blues and rock.

This one leaves me awe struck. A minute to figure out where everyone is going and then the mastery just unfolds.

Yep, that Bill Grant & he's still playing the same mandolin. It's great to get to know him, he's sure got a lot of great old stories. He makes pretty much every tuesday bible study.
