I can see your point, and I agree!!! Some people really don't like the nibs. The Goulet nibs are nice looking.

Well I haven't gotten around to "tinkering" with my Noodler's Ahab, but I did order some notebooks and a new ink from Goulet, and what a difference changing inks has made! I was using Private Reserve "Invincible Black", and switched to De Atramentis "Atlantic Blue", and the nib, feed and contact points are no longer saturated, seeping, or leaking. The flow and feel is improved, and now I don't feel the need to tinker.

I have found also that the inks make a big difference in how a pen performs. I have had some issues with Noodlers ink in a Noodlers pen.... I have read and done a little experimenting with Parkers Quink. Relatively cheap and well flowing. If you question if it is the ink or the pen try some Parkers. From what I have tried this is true.

Thanked: 485Noodlers inks seem to be very wet to me. Probably my favorite ink is probably Private Reserve Sherwood Green. I agree that Quink Blue is fine for a blue. I like J Herbin Cafe des Iles for a brown.
Stranger, if you passing meet me and desire to speak to me, why should you not speak to me? And why should I not speak to you?

I quite like Noodlers myself. Also, the honing video I just watched inspires me to mention that you can have your fountain pens "honed" if you're so inclined. A very talented guy in So CA will modify to your liking. I had him do a heavy italic tip onto my favorite Pelikan 600 and love it. Not at all easy to write with but makes a great looking line.

I'm so easily engrossed by any sort of -AD, so I decided to buy a couple more inks just as a comparison...kinda reminds me of shaving soaps/creams, you might just buy some MWF and a tube of Proraso and you'd probably be perfectly happy not using anything else, but whats the fun in that?

Might be a bit off-topic perhaps, but anyway i don't have a fountain pen i'm the owner of a genuine Mont Blanc ball point, it has a real diamond in the casing ontop cut into the six sided Mt Blanc star, it's a real treasure, and to think i found it on the floor!
