I had the same debate myself but decided with a Walther PPS and a Sig p938 I cant justify it.

I had a Sig P238 (380). Great little pistol. I had it in an IWB holster when I went to the range to shoot glocks or kahrs. I'm so used to DAO that I even shoot revolvers double action.

Anyway, I had shot the pistols I carried in my range bag and decided to run some 380 through the Sig, which I carried 'cocked and locked' in the IWB. So I pulled it, pointed it at the target, aligned the sights and squeezed the trigger.

Nothing happened. With some bewilderment I looked at the Sig and realized I had forgotten to flip the thumb safety down. From that moment on I never carried it again and eventually sold it.

If the omelet hits the fan I want to just pull whatever I'm carrying and go to work. Having to remember a thumb safety may be alright if that is the only type of pistol a person carries, but since I'm so used to DAO it is not feasable for me. YMMV.

You have to practice with the gun you carry. Personally, I won't carry a gun without a thumb safety. I own several Glocks and shoot them sometimes but I do not like it and won't carry one. I carry two identical guns and use the same guns for target and competition. Variety is nice but it sometimes creates confusion under pressure

Yes, and that is the confusion I wish to avoid. I have a Government model in 10mm, and a couple of Browning Hi--Powers, that I love, but I don't carry them.

I completely agree. I carry 99% of the time either a Commander 1911 or the sig p938. Between the two all my other guns have become safe queens, aside from the p229 that sits next to the bed. My next buy will probably be a CCO configuration 1911.

I am in the exact same boat you are in, so the 938 is just a smaller version of my 1911. My problem is that I have been thinking about "reality & real world". Lets say I have to use my ccw for what it is designed for. Law enforcement will want to secure your ccw until it is fully investigated. THIS is where my over-thinking comes in, I ask myself: Would I prefer a $500 glock be "held" for who knows how long or my 1911 costing three times as much? Both will serve the purpose they are designed for every time. Oh what to do....

I honestly hated my sig p938, it was only consistent at hanging shells if you fully loaded the magazine, so I spent 50 bucks on an extended sign magazine for it and it did the same...last sig I'll ever buy. I'll stick with my Kimber ultra raptor II. Bit wider but concealment isn't an issue with it.

That's odd, mine has yet to jam or have any issues & I've put anything I can find through it from 147gr gold dots to winchester white box 115 fmj's. Kimbers are really hard to beat...I used to carry a ultra cdp ii in 45, but traded it off after I picked up the super carry pro. Boy do I love that round butt in the hand & much easier on shirts as my other 1911's truly eat my shirts.

Well you've seen my single stacks, they all have thumb safety's. Its a natural part of the draw. I also have a p238, I like that little guy. Had a lc9, for my swimsuit carry prior, and hated that thing. About a month after I bought The sig, they came out w/the p938. Had I been up to speed, I probably would has waited for it.
    And now, more eye candy....
