God I hate the carry laws in MD. I carried for years, now all my guns just sit at home unless it's to the range or for cleaning.

It was funny coming back from Afghanistan. Spent most of the year with a 9mm and 40 rnds strapped to my hip - one day it's legal, the next (when I got back to MD) I could go to jail for it. Stupidity. Like I somehow forgot how to manage a weapon from one day to the next.
Gentlemen, we don't want this thread to go off the topic of Show & Tell, as to what we are carrying. Just to refresh your memory below is the sticky in the convo forum regarding what is allowed, and what is not allowed in discussing firearms. I'd hate to see this thread closed over the digression. Thanks in advance for your understanding;
I have one for summer and one for winter!:DA .32 guardian and a Kimber 1911.

+1. G23 or Kimber 1911.
Looks like a sweet little .32!
Zemke,
I found a guy in Texas who can round the butt of the ultra sized (I now call them shirt eaters) kimbers to a round butt for about $200, pm me if interested. Makes it less profile and of course easier on the clothes. I just traded off my ultra the other day, but my carry 1911 has a smooth behind...Super Carry Pro

I have trouble deciding. Custom Caspain Recon .45 1911, DW Valor or VBOB in .45, DW ECO in 9mm, S&W 686+ 3" are my main choices. Waiting on a new cylinder for my S&W 327PC snubby and the holster for that one.
Put that vbob in your hands and you will know quickly. I have wheel guns for ccw, but for the same size I can carry more available rounds.
My 686+ holds 7 and the 327 holds 8 and they carry easier (more comfy) as well. But I do like the VBOB or even the full size 1911's for carry. My Eco is a 9mm and holds 8+1.

I have feeding issue with all my 1911's. I feed them and just keep eating & eating....
Can't seem to reload fast enough to fill them up. WTF?
An another note, what is this shirt eating you guys are referring to?
Many of us carry our weapons with a inside the waistband (IWB) holster between 4&5 oclock (for right handers) and the heal of the weapon comes in contact with chairs and other items during a daily routine and it wears holes in our shirts. I have found regular 1911's the worst and other weapons are hard on them too. Ever since I tried a the round heal of the kimber super carry pro, I've never looked back as the roundness helps to not destroy shirts so bad.
I typically carry appendix. While I haven't had the butt of the weapon wear a hole I've had several holsters snag shirts. Has anyone seen a officers frame, typically 4.8" height overall, with the bob. For smaller people, myself included, I think it'd help with carry quite a bit.
I often carry a full size 1911. A trick that I have discovered is to wear my t-shirt tails over the gun and my shirt tails over the t-shirt. Still pulls at the t-shirt but cheaper to replace than a button down shirt. Cabelas has some heavy cotton button downs that seem to last forever. I have had one shirt that has lasted easily 5-6 cold years and it does not look worn by the gun butt at all. Stay safe
I keep reading about all the different firearms people carry and that's good. I think every one should be able to defend them selves and loved ones. So I want to say this let's be lawful careful and trained. and remember the best firearm is the one you have with you if and when you might need it. some time the large 45 on the hip gives way to the 38 airweight in the pocket. I have 2 auto 9mm pistols and a smith airweight and some time my little 25 auto. depends on how I'm dressed.
Crossbreed holsters when IWB, various makes when OWB in cooler weather.
Ihave owned quite a few 1911's and have a half dozen in the safe right now and I have to say it's the "one" I have been looking for over the years. You can find them at several hundred off msrp on gunbroker and just have them shipped to a ffl you deal with. I have about 1K down the tube on this one and I can't be more happy. I have kept it box stock, but plan on changing the grips when I find the ones I like...wouldn't mind some slimmer grips. I don't recommend the ultra/3" 1911's unless it's just going to be a carry gun and that's it. Mine is an everything gun from carry to target to going into the woods with me on opening day tomorrow hunting for white tail deer...it will just be carried OWB instead of IWB. As far as carry, I honestly can't tell or feel any difference between it and the ultra 1911. You can't beat the accuracy of a 5" 1911 due to the longer sight radius...but for an all purpose 1911 I HIGHLY recommend the Super Carry Pro. Fair warning, plan on buying a few wilson mags as kimber only ships pistols with one mag...which I think is silly. Of the three full size 1911's I have in the safe, this one shoots just as good and "just feels right" with that rounded butt. If you were to honor your father with such a fine weapon, I am sure it would be one of the greatest gifts he has ever received.
Hey did you guys see this?
Smartphone? No, it's a gun in your pocket! - The Economic Times
You can say what you like about Taurus Pistols, but this is pretty ingenious really :).

From that link:
"To prevent accidental firing, the Curve has a key attached that can be turned to engage a security lock, and make sure it does not accidentally fire while in the pocket."
Not very convenient if you need to use it.

Either of these seem to work just fine.
Vbobs? Sure are purdy...
My general carry switches between a Glock 26 in 9mm using G19 magazines, Glock 30S in .45 ACP or my Sunday going to meeting carry is a Kimber Ultra Crimson Trace. If just running out to the little mart up the road, sometimes I just toss my Glock 42 in my pocket. The wife is pretty consistent with her Sig 938.
daily carry is a Sig P229 or a H&K USP compact both in 40. I have several others that fall into the rotation depending on attire, weather, and occasion. Absolutely love my wheel guns but like the 1911s they are a bit bulky to carry most of the time.
Sig P220 45 cal. Been carrying it for over 20 years
Have to disagree on revolvers being bulky; depends on the revolver I'd say.
The most concealable and effortless daily carry gun I own is a S&W 442. When carried in a Ritchie Nighthawk IWB holster, it is virtually invisible. Toting it around for 8 hours a day is a breeze..
I live in Ky., so we can carry ANY deadly weapon we choose, including straight razors, lead pipes, pistols, knives, brass knuckles, switchblades, fixed blades of any kind. We can carry whatever we want. They issue a CCDW permit, not a CCW. I always carry a .32 with hollow points and 2 10-round mags.
I just recieved my new holster from Garret industries and since Friday I've been packing my Ruger 1911C instead of my usual (for work at least) Sig p938. I picked up the Silent thunder slim and I've got to say its quickly become my favorite holster. Once I've had a chance to test it a little more I'll post some pictures.
A comfortable holster means everything for sure, but you still must have retention and durability. I've been thinking about one of those Alien holsters for one of my babies to see how they are in the comfort arena as. Would love to see some pics of your Garret holster
At 6' tall and 140 lbs it's a little hard to hide a commander size 1911 in work clothes. I've managed it without any trouble for the week. Attachment 187369Attachment 187370 I'll post close ups of the holster once I get a chance to take some more pictures.
