Thanked: 11Not slings shots but slings! I played around with sling shots as a kid but now I prefer the added challenge of a sling. No wonder I got into straight shaving. I make them myself, usually by weaving. Here's a couple of them finished and being made.

So you think you could bring down a really big dude with one?
No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

Thanked: 11I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end. You'd be surprised how often the stones you throw break when they hit another rock or a brick wall. They are moving at quite the clip. There are some youtube vids of people destroying things with slings like that. I can throw an egg sized rock about 200-250 feet with the red and white sling, or at least I could until my dad threw it in the ocean, he didn't have the finger loop attached properly and when he went to release the stone the whole thing went sailing off lmao.
The hard part of bringing down Goliath or a rabbit for that matter is accuracy. It's very hard to be accurate with a sling. The best I can do is a 2 foot circle at 50 feet. There are people who can do better but I'm not one of them.

Thanked: 124They were used in armies as late as Roman times. They might have been used later in warfare, I'm not a super history sling nerd, so I cant say, but I wouldn't be surprised. Especially considering how few resources there were in medieval times.
I've got one of those wrist rockets with the adjustable yoke. Its handy for scaring off racoons. If you get one, make sure they arent the kind that have tapered bands, those things dont work right.
