This just goes to show I should read a thread all the way through before reacting. I immediately went frantically searching (online) for the best place to get some JW Gold. This is sad...but not the tragedy it would be if the label just vanished. Whew. Close one.

    Don't believe them.

I have it on good accounts the stuff will really be made in China at the Second Wu San Sanitary Distillery.

That's not such bad news. Now if they were to do that to my Glen (12 year old is good enough for me, thanks) then I would be upset. I was a JWB drinker in my youth and I think it's a great way to get started on scotch but there's a whole world of scotch out there from smoky to sweet that is a wonder to experience! Besides, I like Foster's and I don't care it's really brewed in Canada (probably).

Yeah, the original article was somewhat misleading but I'm glad to hear the Johnnie Walker brand will still be going strong. I still have a bottle of Blue Label from a few years back, perhaps I'll have a celebratory drink....

We're not willing to take credit for that one - try the Aussies

Did someone just fart in my general direction?

Yes... Pernod... which isn't a drink, it's something used to flavor soup. Before that the Canadians (Segram) owned it... But it's "still" made in the same place it's always been made so.... nyahh.

Gentlemen - Let's not forget that all Johhny's are blends and have always been made with whisky from a number of different distilleries with thier own being only one of the ingredients.

Now if they moved Caol Ila or another one of the major / shoulder whiskys we might have a bigger problem.

    Just a thought.

Goes to show a lack of taste buds in Scotch drinkers. Fosters is worse than Budweiser and that is saying something.

We'll have to take the blame for it, but let it be known that it was an Australian beer marketed to the Americans, and designed to appeal to American tastes. It never really took off here, although it was advertised as if it was the National Drink. It is owned by the Japanese these days, though still made here as far as I recall...Sad really. It should be put down, needs to be put down, to save the beer drinking world a lot of misery.
