    hello all,

I have been on my cane for the last two days and think I can get away with using it instead of my crutches. I go back to the saw bones on Tuesday, I'll see where I stand after that, pun intended. I wanted to get a rattan cane like one I had before, but couldn't find one on the Cold Steel site where I got my last one. Any suggestions where I could pick up a nice rattan cane? If the new doc does what I think he will, I'll be on crutches again, but will need a cane sooner or later.

I hope everyone is having a great weekend, enjoy the Olympics, and take care, donv

G'day Don, Have you looked on the internet for any Martial Arts sites that sell them? I've seen some somewhere. I'll see if I can't find a link or two for you right now.

Thanks Mick! I just typed rattan into the search and there it was, and at that price, I only woulda gotten half a cane from cold steel. Hey, have you been watching the Olympics?? Who's the idiot who decided to have them in an Arctic country like England?? Women's beach volleyball just isn't the same when they gotta wear long johns.

    Later Mick, thanks again, don

No worries mate. Glad to help. No I haven't been watching the olympics. I've been out bush the last few days. Only got back to town yesterday arvo and haven't had time to do anything else other than catch up with all the stuff to be done at home. Beach volly ball would not be worth watching if the ladies all have to wear longjohns. It just would be right!

I share your pain Mick, sprained both anckles when I was young, got flat feet and have walked most of my life(I don't drive). Sometimes the tendons in my ankles and tops of my feet get so angry it feels like I have a broken foot. And then comes the sciatica on top of all that plus I am overwight and getting older.Like you not decrepit or anything, just some days are worse than others. I got three canes that I keep place around the house just in case. Life hurts sometimes mate !

Yer not wrong Brother. I'm coming good, but I think I'll be needing the third leg for a little bit of support for a while. Nearly finsihed with my home made job. Maybe tomorrow it will be completed. Depends on how much time I have through the day.

For hiking I use a bamboo pole. It's about an inch around and 5 feet long. Lighter then any other staff I've used and stronger then most. I prefer an extra long staff instead of something waist high due to the rough trails around here, sometimes it helps to have that extra couple of feet when descending hills.
